I have seen one of our donkeys almost stomp a coyote to death. In the summer, when things got really dry, there was one lone coyote that kept trying to run out in the midle of the cow pasture to drink from the big pond and one of our three donkeys chased him over to the corner of the fence and almost stomped him to death as he was trying to crawl under and get away.
Mules and donkeys really hate dogs and cats and its amazing how seemingly docile critters like these will go absolutely nuts when an aggressive dog or cat comes near. Our three donkeys are very friendly to people, but if an aggressive strange dog gets near or a coyote...they really go ballistic on the animal! Even though that story was questinoable...I would not put it past a mule or donkey to go after of kill a wild cat. - brickboy240

Yup, donkeys and mules are known for being good pasture guards, hell even llama's are good ones too.

mules and donkeys are pretty protective, i wouldnt want to be locked in a pen and have to fight my way out un armed. There was a guy in the news last winter or two years ago i think in montana, he has his daughter ride to town on a mule to go to school. Anyways it is outfitted with spiked horse shoes, and he says it has layed the smack down on a few mountain lions and a bunch of wild crazy dogs. Dont mess with a mule with a 'tude. Lots of sheep farmers put a mule or donkey or two in the field, they are ornery and will protect the sheep really good. They will stomp the crap outta preditors.
