100,200,300 yard pistol shooting

Long story short, I am at a local gun shop with my son, he's handling different models for feel before purchasing. Anyway, the guy that is helping us starts to talk about his shooting skills, and claims proficient, in the box target shots at 200 yards, and says he can hit the paper consistently out to 300 yards.

Now, I make no claims of being a great shot, but I can shoot decent out to 100 yards with a pistol but, even out to a 100 yards, I can't claim consistent in the box shots. I didn't want to throw the bs flag, so I am asking, is there any shooters here that can shoot like this?

I should add, he claims to shoot with a stock 5" .40 XD tactical.

My dad has one of those Thompson Center single shot pistols that shoots the 357 Rem Magnum. He is very good out to at least 200 yards with a scope. Anyone who says they can shoot 300 yards with a Glock and consistently get in the 10 shots I would throw up the BS flag.

I know about the T/C with sights and have no doubt from the off leg shooting position shots out to 200 with scope with accuracy are possible, but a stock .40 cal? I am having a hard time wrapping my head around the claim. He claims having 20/10 vision helps make this possible.

Long Range Handgun Shooting

Here's an article where they push a few standard firearms out to 200 yards, but even at 100 yards he is talking about getting "on" the silhouette, not anything about getting in the box.

I say the guy in the funshop is full of crap, period. If he can get them all "in the box" at 300 yards, it is 100% luck. You can't see much more than a blur of a target at 300 yards.

This guy says his 5 shot group was "18 inches high and 23 inches wide"...

funshop dude is on crack

At first, I thought you were asking about a one hundred million yard shot and I was like "uh..... how many people do YOU know who try to shoot things from orbit?

See if he will accept a bet for money that he can't hit a pie plate with at least five of ten shots from 300 yds.

I'd call BS with an XD at 300. 300 yds. is pretty easy with a scoped T/C Encore pistol (in rifle cartridges anyway) and a good rest.

I am no marksman, but it sounds like BS. I second the idea on the bet--$100 is a nice round number. If he is not up for betting money, then make the bet non-monetary...like having him wear a cheerleader (female) outfit to work for a week...or wear an Obama shirt to work.

ROTFL!!!! My question is how come the guy is working in a gun shop and isn't on SA's pro team or the Army marksmanship unit??? Total BS!!!! Or he meant to say 30 instead of 300 yards?!
