I recently purchased a brand new XD subcompact 9mm Pistol. A buddie of mine bought the same gun but when he looked at the invoice it said "2006 package." Is there any major difference between 2006 and 2008? Inquiring minds would like to know.

Only difference (if any) would be in the finish,I dont know when they changed it.The older finish wasnt as durable as the new.

But no worries, if you do have the old finish, and you can call SA and they will tell you by looking up your S/N they will refinish it for free.

2006 is the new finish. Don't worry.

If memory serves me, the 2006 pacage was marketing that included a holster and double magazine holder.
