I applied for a new apartment last week and got a call saying that there was "something wrong" with my application and asks if I could come in and talk about it. I arrive and the office lady smiles and says that everything is taken care of.

I asked her what the problem was and why she had me come in. She opens up a file and says "Well, obviously you're not him."

... apparently there is another guy out there with my name born on June 27th that is a registered sex offender.

The only difference in our primary info (other than, I assume, our SS#'s) was the year of our birth... He was born in 1950, me: 1980.

Here's the dude:

... yeah. I think my CHL is going to take for-frikkin-ever to arrive now.

WTF? Government efficiency at its finest....that sucks man. At least the lady caught the error and didn't just bounce your application.

It was a traumatic experience... I've had very long hair (8" ponytail) for the past 7 years.

Hope everything works out for you but you never know. My nieces husband has the exact same name and birth date as some dude who is on the run from another state. They went to Canada a few years ago and they pulled him aside when they were re-entering America and didn't tell him anything. My niece was pregnant at the time. Swore he was this guy they were looking for. After a few hours they finally sent for the guys picture and saw it wasn't him.

When he got home he had to get a lawyer to draw up papers, had to get fingerprinted and file his fingerprints with a few different law enforcement agencies. If he leaves the country now he has to have a copy of his prints so they can check them. A never ending hassle.....................

Any delays purchasing due to that? If so, apply for an FBI UPIN number. Basically a permanent security check file to clear up any confusion on your NICS check and get instant approvals.

Maybe they wanted you to come down so you could point out the 30 year difference in age in their records...
Maybe they full well knew it wasn't you but some new policy to protect us from the terrorists hiding behind every bush requires them to hassle you... for your own security of course.

I had absolutely no problem purchasing the handgun... but then again, I live in Texas.
