I won't do a Harley, mainly because the nearest dealer is 60+ miles away, and from what I hear, everytime you want something done, it's a couple hundred dollars.

Maybe I am wrong in thinking that way, but I can pretty much take this to the bank..........

The Jap bikes don't cost NEAR as much as a Harley. Original purchase, or maintenance. I like American made, but Harley has just rubbed me the wrong way. I sell truck accessories, Harley bed mats, grills, trim items, are WAY MORE than the exact same non-Harley item. I am all for free enterprise, marketing, brand recognition, and support, BUT Harley is not my thing. When people buy a Harley they seem to change.

Back to the main topic...... A cruiser for me! We can co a Harley vs. the rest of the motorcycle world thread later.

Sorry for jacking your thread. If you could find a Magna I think that would be the way to go. I like the Vmax as well. Both are kinda hard to come by in my neck of the woods though.

I have a Honda 750 Spirit (2005), as does one of my best friends (2007). My other best friend has the Magna. They are both great bikes and have awesome reliability and performance. Between the two I pick the Spirit, mostly for style points, but it is also more comfortable for me. Here is a vid clip of my exhaust, sorry you can't really see the bike.

I would definately buy a cheaper used bike until you ride for a while and are able to form YOUR OWN opinion. I can almost guarantee that you'll change your mind on bikes after you've ridden for a while. All bikes feel different when you're riding then as opposed to sitting on them in the dealership or in somebody's driveway.

And yes I am comparing the V4 Magna to the V twin Shadow/Aero/Sprirt series.

I lilke the looks of the Aero, so that would be my main contender vs. Magna.

Problem 1.... my GF says she gets about 100 miles to the tank on that Magna. That ain't greatly impressive to me, but I guess that's 33 mpg approximately.

The only reviews I can find on motorcycles, are all praises for everything. Everyone doesn't like them.... so where's the bad stuff?

I am "familiar" (take that very lightly) with the Magna since the GF has one. I like the quiet tone of that bike alot. I am not into loud pipes. They just tick me off!
It would make good sense to have two bike of the same character so that maintenance and familiarity would near identical. Although I have yet to Google it I know that there has to be bigger aftermarket gas tanks out there to get more distance out of the Magna. Search for a "Magna" forum and ask these questions there. AT the same time you may want to see if there are a couple of aftermarket part suppliers and OEM part suppliers out there.

This is going to spark a major decline in posts here!

Anyone can afford ANYTHING, if they choose to. I do NOT need to keep-up-with-the-Jones'. Obviously you have good feelings towards Harley, obviously you are NOT open minded enough to see that others won't. This is exactly the problem I have with SOME Harley owners. "If you don't own a Harley, you ain't $hit". I had a fellow come in my shop yesterday that wanted to buy something. SO I answered all of his questions, then we started talking about the recent weather. It's been really nice and sunny, ok HOT, but not much rain. Except some sneak attacks by Mother Nature at night.

He said the reason he needs what we talked about, is that his tools got wet during that heavy rain we just received. I said, "yea, I woke up from a dead sleep and did a quick, windows are up, bike's inside, dog's inside. Ok all good", and tried to go back to sleep.

He asks " what kind of bike you got". I told him my GF has a Magna 750, and I was still deciding. He said "well, I have a V-Rod, and my wife has an 883. The 883 is for sale though, she can't ride it anymore due to back problems. "

I said "yea, I can't do it either since I had back surgery last year." He agreed, then we talked about the bikes, and his Corvettes. Yes he has 3. I hate to categorize but this guy is going to be difficult to deal with, and won't be open to many suggestions. I did sell him though!

The 2 engine powered things in the world that I dislike the most.

Why because a few owners make the rest of the world feel like they are less since they don't own them. Both of which are in need of constant repair, and maintenance. I know it's not true for every one of them, but it seems like all I hear is 'my Corvette is in the shop, or I dropped the Harley off last week.' Why doesn't anyone say " I'm driving my 'vette" or " I didn't have to do a damn thing to my Harley this month".

Back to the Magna vs. Honda V-Twin question.

I don't want to ask the Magna forums, since it would be like asking the Glock forum, which is the better gun. We know the answer to that! We all chose something outside the box.

I am checking for aftermarket parts now.

True, but they may give you advice what to lookout for. It would also be an excellent place for parts, shop tricks, bike pics, model specs, etc.
