Used the XD in self defense of the home
Just wondering how many people here have actually used the XD in a self defense or home defense situation. I dont mean they grabbed it when they heard a noise in the night and it turned out to be nothing, but actually confronting a a BG or protecting oneself or family.

I haven't and I pray I never have to. But I will if the BG makes the wrong choices.

I have a couple of times. Didn't have to shoot. Would have if the BG's had moved another 2 mm my way.

I never have,
but over on defensivecarry.com there was a guy that used and XD-9 service in a real self defense situation..... IIRC his girlfriends crazy-ass ex boyfriend smashed into their apartment one night intent on killing them, and the good guy emptied his magazine..he only hit the guy four times and he lived.. he posted pictures of his apartment where he shot out the TV and through some doors and walls....very poor shooting on the good guys part, but he stopped the threat with the XD... i think the post got deleted, it was about 500 pages long because of some legal issues...thats the only instance i can recall of an XD being used in real life........ but my XD-9 sits near and ready should such a similiar situation occur

I have picked up my XD in response to a possible threat on two occasions.
The first time was we had my brother saying with us from out of town and there was a car packed horizontal to the sidewalk with two cars parked normally in the drive way and someone was seen fiddling on with the driver side door of the car closest to the street. I came out the front door with my XD holstered ITWB and a tac light turned on. The second time was we heard what sounded like someone trying to open the side gate on the north side of the house....same MO; holstered XD ITWB with a taclight. As it always is.....XD in "condition 0"

The post in reference on Defensive Carry was posted by username Balsac. His post was removed because he has/had yet to go to any legal hearings or whatever over the shooting.
Your account was pretty much spot on. Crazy ex busted in, started shooting place up, good guy fires back hitting the magazine on the bad guys gun with first lucky shot disabling the shooters gun, hit his target 6 total times out of 14 shots. The shot that finally put him down was a femur shot I think. Good guy used XD 9mm which I think he has since said he was gonna use .40 S&W from now on.
