No no. I recall that thread very well as I followed each and every post until it was deleted.
The good guy (from now own known as GG) and his girlfriend were asleep in bed. Breaking glass and two shots fired woke him up. The BG had broken his living room window after the two shots failed to knock out his door locks. The GG jumped out of bed, grabbed his 9mm XD and went to the living room junction between his bedroom and the living room. The BG was coming into his house through the window and over the sofa which was directly against the window wall. The BG fired one or two shots at the GG, both missed. Once hit the wall to a bedroom, the other went into the kitchen area. While the BG was rapidly advancing towards his bedroom, the GG stood at the doorway and fired as the BG cut an arched path around the coffee table and towards him (GG had drawn a good map of the event and furniture placement as well as shot paths). When the BG just got over the sofa is when the GG began firing. He only had one full magazine available. He fired rapidly at the BG as he continued the arched path towards him. Luckily, very luckily, his very first shot hit the BG's pistol knocking the magazine out of the gun. This ended the BG's ammo but he kept coming at him. Continuing to fire at the BG he did not know he had hit the BG a few times. Once or twice in the chest/shoulder area, stomach area, arm and finally in the femur which broke from impact of the bullet. This is when the BG fell down. The BG still had his pistol in hand trying to click off another shot all while screaming "Kill me! Kill me!". The GG did not shoot again and let the BG remain on his floor until the cops arrived. He did manage to get the pistol out of the BG's hand and away. The police told the GG that his magazine was emptied (a full 14 shots) and later he found out that the BG sustained six total hits out of that 14. All in all I think he did pretty dang good. He had just purchased the pistol a couple months prior and says he has had no pistol experience/training prior. The BG was crazed, the GG was scared to death and shooting at a rapidly advancing attacker. He lived with absolutely no wounds to himself. As said before, it was dark and he didnt have night sights. Piss poor shot placement?? Maybe, but he did do better than average and he did survive. Shame he didnt have a 12guage instead. Would have been over with one to two hits.

Isn't there some statistic about 50% or less hit to miss ratio in LEO involved shootings?
Heck I'm not gonna judge him.

The fact that people are saying "he only hit the guy "x" times ??" and judging him for doing something in a situation that even those who are passing judgement have most likely never been in is laughable.
Good call guys....good call.

Let's think about it, no training and hit a moving target. 1 Time out of 14 is awesome.
People can put 2" groups at 50 yards on paper, when they have time to line up the shot and yadda yadda. But hitting a moving target is damn hard, especially with a pistol. I hope if a BG ever breaks into my place, I'd be lucky enough to incapacitate him with no in jury to myself or my girlfriend.

Yes, and of course any improvements in hollow point function and reliability are also applied to .40S&W and .45ACP. See where I'm going with this?
