Dirt will stick to any oil. So that parts not valid.

I use it for my AR and it works fine, plus a quart lasts a LONG time.

Mine do not show any above normal wear and tear. I have run 1911's for many a year doing it this way with zero problems. To each their own, we never said you "had" to do it..

As for the Gun Butter, I would only be able to use it for 5 or so months of the year. The rest of the time it is too cold, and I would be back to my old standard. I expect my tools to work when I need them, even if it is -30 outside and they have been in the cold for days. Heck, we are still getting snow up here.

Spray On

I've used Honda Brand Aerosol Spray Can Motorcycle Chain Lube on my Makarov and AK's.

It leaves a uniform coat, very slick, deep penetrating, water repealant, no build up, and does not attract dirt or dust.

I have not used it on my KD because I do not know how it would react with polymer and don't want to find out if it does not play nice with plastic.

I don't know about synthetics but actual oil is carcinogenic. Repeated handling and contact with motor oil is a cause of cancer.

That may or not matter to someone.

I've used Amsoil on my AR with no hitches recently - Good stuff & you only need a little bit. I imagine Mobil1 would be no different. I went to visit a friend upstate for the weekend & decided to go to the range there, but didn't bring my CLP. He was pretty surprised when I used a small sample of Amsoil he had at his house, but it ran perfect all day. (We shot just over 400rds). I might just switch to Mobil1 seeing as though it stays wet much longer than CLP.

Um, don't think so. You are thinking of USED motor oil, not fresh. It's all the crap that gets into it from the car that you have to worry about.
