Florida CCW Question
I was CCing in a mall yesterday in central FL. No signs on the door banning CCW. After I had been in the mall for a half hour or so, I was looking at the directory and noticed a sign to the side of the directory with a list of about 15 things you can't do in the mall. About halfway down the list was the prohibition of carrying firearms, concealled or open, with or without a permit. My interpretation is that they would prefer you not CCW and if you are somehow outed, they will ask you to leave (which you should do since you are on private property).
My question is this: Was I legal? |

If it says you can't carry inside the mall then you were illegal. Should we call 911 now?

If that happened in CT you would be legal until someone connected with the property owner asked you to leave. If you refuse, you are trespassing.
Laws vary state to state though. So you aren't breaking a law *here* until/unless that happens. |

You were legal if you were in possession of a valid concealed weapon license that is recognized by the state of Florida. There is a specific list of off-limits places listed in FS 790.06, anywhere not on that list is fair game. If you are asked to leave, then yes, you should do so immediately. |

Florida has no LEGAL no guns allowed sign. You were NOT illegal. You can get into trouble if found out, asked to leave, and then refuse. Then you could be charged with armed trespass. Don't ask, don't tell. Read the Florida regs to see which places are illegal.
