Me and the wife were in walmart the other day so she could buy me my new Ruger 10/22 carbine for small game season (read Christmas). The guy at the counter needed a manager for every part of the sale. It took me over an hour to buy the damn thing. Hell, at a show I can do a purchase in less than five minutes with a knowledgeable seller. They're retarted in there.

Most of these wallymart employees are bottom feeders that can't work anywhere else. I don't go in there and expect decent service. The way those folks are paid there is really no incentive on their part to do well. I swear if their ammo wasn't so damn cheap I would never go there.

"Do you have a gun in that bag?!!!". "Of course not" I say, "The gun is on my belt". He was buggy eyed the whole transaction. I tell you, for somebody who sells ammo and rifles this kid was jittery.
I would say he does sound a bit jittery. I mean if he works around guns all day why is he so uptight? Not to mention how dumb of a question that is.

My advice... don't go to walmart (aka: wal-marx) unless you have to; and try not to buy guns there. They are not in the gun business and have no idea obviouly how to handle guns.

My advice is make your own individual decision about where you want to shop and don't avoid places because some guy on a message board said you should. Wal-Mart is no more inherently evil than any other big corporation in this country that we all do business with in a number of ways.

Personally I'm sick of all the anti Wal-Mart stuff going around and I think it's a direct product of anti-corporate leftists who'd rather see a communist system in play where no one is allowed to be rich and successful and all excessive money is given to the poor and lazy. They have just as much right to be here and do business as mom and pop do. This is America. So a lot of the people know nothing about guns. So what. What do you expect when the world's largest retail store sells guns? If you want service go to your gun shop for guns (I do). If you need to pick up some ammo and some milk then go to Wal-Mart (I do that too).

What's the point of having an agenda against them and telling people not to go there? There are far more worthy targets of that kind of agenda than Wal-Mart.

EDIT: Just to clarify - I'm not saying that packingasubcompact is an anti-corporate leftist...just that the "hate wal-mart" thing started there and has pervaded the rest of America in different forms... including gun enthusiasts.

Let me restate---I don't like the SERVICE I get at Wal-Mart. Love the cheap Plinkning Ammo...Looking at a savage with Acuu Trigger...Hate the service...and annoyed by some of the less "gifted" people that work at ours.

Hey did you know that Wal-Mart's entire special-order gun catalog is available online? Not all Wal-Mart stores will order anything off of there but many will. You can browse online and even see the prices but you have to go into the store to order it.

Check it out here

Look on the left side to see all the various brands you can order from. Savage .30-06 with scope - $336.56.
