The WAL*MART SG dept Sucks.

So like any red blooded alpha male who stops by walmart, I had to check out the sporting goods section for ammo. You know the deal, its hurry up and wait. So I eventually ask some one in another dept to page some one... to no avail.

Finally, I get on the PA system myself and page several times. Each time sounding more and more unprofessional, so they would know it was just someone goofing off on the PA and would send some one quickly to investigate. " Attention, there is a MAJOR, MAJOR, MAJOR backup in the sporting goods section, we need help immediately, code red. "

That seemed to do the trick, some one eventually came but didn't even ask if I was the one on the PA system. I started to buy them out of the WWB 100 rounds boxes but I'm on a budget this week.

Yeah my walmart here tried to tell me it was state law that you could not buy more than two boxes of ammo, They also tried to tell me that .223 wouldn't work in my AR, nothing like a 35 year old man with a lisp and no clue telling me how my weapon functions.

Interesting approach - Maybe you should have said, "Attention K-Mart Shoppers, all sporting goods are 50% off for the next 10 minutes.
Either you would have a run on the sporting goods dept or someone my wonder WTF was the K-Mart thing about and come to investigate.

Nice one!

When I was a kid my friend and I went to Burger King with his "crazy" uncle. We get to the counter and there's nobody around so my friend's uncle grabs the mike and starts singing the BK TV commercial song:

"Hold the pickles, hold the lettuce.
Special orders don't upset us....."

Big fun for a couple of 11 y/o kids and even makes me smile now that I remember it.

Hey that's cool. That's one good thing about having kids. So many great opportunities to embarrass them.

I started answering the phone on the desk once but when the only person with the key goes on lunch break, we all have to wait.

If I wanted to steal from walmart it would be soooo friggen easy. Just take what ever I want to sporting goods and I'll have hours to disassemble it and carry it out of the store piece by piece.

The Wal Mart near my house still sells 9mm Blazer Brass for around 8.99 a box and 40SW fmjs for 10.99 a box. Picked up a few extra boxes on Saturday, while buying my daughter some sandals and a few new sprinklers.

Wal Mart's prices on Blazer Brass pistol practice ammo is ten times better than every gun store around me. True, they don't have a huge selection, but for cheapo practice ammo or feeding the 22 rimfire...they have me covered. On weekends, there is always an attendant at the sporting good dept and I pay for everything there and avoid the front checkout madness.

Some love to hate Wal Mart, but if you don't go there, expecting Macy's styled service and don't go during peak times...its not too bad. Like evrything else...you need to learn how to "work" Wal Mart or it will drive you crazy.

Besides..with gas prices what they are....the one stop shopping makes up for the craziness.

Just a couple of days ago I got to talk to a real gun expert working at wally world. We were talking about my ruger sp101 because I was buying ammo for it and he asked me what I had. No, I didnt lift up my shirt and show it to him. He said snubbies are cool, but you cant put a lot of rounds through them or they will fall apart. I'm pretty sure my ruger wont fall apart anytime soon. Then he said that he doesnt like S&W because they are very inaccurate revolvers. He said his friend has one and they couldnt hit a plastic bucket with it from 10 feet away. He said he had to just about put the end of the barrel against the bucket to prove that bullets were really coming out of it.
Here is the best part. He said his hi point is just as good as my XD.
