Yeah, no one just buys ammo at Wal-Mart. They make you earn it!

I would have gotten what I needed and gone to the front check out. At my Walmart though, the ammo is lock in a case that isn't behind a counter which might look a bit fishy on a security cam tape.

I think that price is king for most people. I can go to ****'s sproting goods and there is always a guy there ready to help, but their prices are probibly 20% higher. I'm to the point that I might be willing to pay that 20% on days when I want to get in and out so I can go shooting.

Like most SG stores now days, they don't think it is a sport unless it involves a ball.

Well the manager came back from their storage with 2x cardboard boxes of 10 WWB boxes (2000 rounds total) and said that was all they had. When I questioned him, he put up a wall (I could tell he wasn't telling the truth). I said, "Um...can't I have those boxes sitting behind you???" LOL, there was another box behind him. He tried to convince me that that was not 9mm (It said 9mm on the outside of the box and had tape on it). I asked him what it was and he said .45. I said I would take it as well then. Boy was he not happy. He had to open the box and scan the WWB boxes separately, but yes they were 9mm.

I doubt that all they had was 3000 rounds on hand. (Yeah, there was even more in the glass case, but I didn't even bother at this point). It was total BS. I don't know why they even run a gun section when they are such pansies with selling ammo. It took about 30-45 minutes to go through all this hassling, but I got a good price.
Notice the difference between living in TX and AZ?

For this to be an honest, side by side comparison, the purchaser in TX would need to be buying ammo in Austin, as it is a liberal mecca in that state just Tucson is in AZ. Then we'll see what happens. I have been into the 2 wally worlds that I frequent here and at both places, the usual guys that work there are really cool, know what I am asking for, and ask what I shoot the ammo with.

My greatest Wally World Adventure is as follows:

I was building a lightbox to photograph smaller items and I needed one yard of the cheapest white fabric they had -- like $1.50/yd or something. My wife and I were doing some grocery shopping on this trip as well. We started in the sewing section, but the lady was helping other customers (apparently teaching them how to quilt ) so we decided to go get groceries and come back.

When we have almost everything we need, I hoof it back over to the fabric only to find that the employee isn't there! I wait around for a few minutes and a manager is paged to garden. "Great, she will walk right past me!" I thought. The manager appears on her way to garden and I ask her to page someone to help me. She was very nice and not 45 seconds later, she paged the employee by name to the fabric, adding an urgent "CUSTOMER WAITING!" at the end of the page.

5 minutes goes by and the manager reappears from garden, very irritated to see that I had not been helped yet. She apologizes and says she would help me but she doesn't know how to use the small scanner and printer to print a price tag for the fabric. She pages the employee by name again, this time with the "if you don't hurry your ass you're fired" tone. Another couple joins me in my wait...

By this time I had toyed with the idea of cutting the fabric for myself, but I didn't know how to use the scanner/printer! I picked up the scanner and figured it out in approximately 3.7 seconds. I measured and cut my yard of fabric, scanned the label on the bolt, typed in the quantity, and pushed F6 to send the label to the printer. I affixed the label to the cloth and rejoined my wife.

Total time waiting/serving myself = 15 minutes give or take.

As my wife and I finished shopping, perhaps just over 5 minutes later, I finally saw the fabric lady waddling back to her post.

A minute later we are halfway through the checkout process, fabric scanned and bagged, when a VERY annoyed fabric lady comes across on the intercom saying "Will the customer who took the white fabric immediately return to the cutting table!"

Right, I'll be right there!

I forgot to return the bolt of cloth to the shelf!!!

Oh well.

If any of you need fabric at Wal Mart, let me know and I will come do it for you!

Can I hire you to go to Wally world with my wife? She is always buying fabric and I am sick of either waiting or having the nag behind the counter telling us her life story of how she got involved in sewing etc.

You should have gone back to see what she had to say to you.

Finally, I get on the PA system myself and page several times.
How does one operate the PA system in a Wal-Mart? That info could prove useful to some impatient shoppers.

Walmart sucks.

I stopped shopping there when they raised prices of 9mm over 6 bucks a box of 50 rounds.

I can't believe all the people I see on this site who still buy ammo at walmart. 9mm, 40 and 45 are all the same price (or less) at stores like Cabelas or Dicks or gander mountain when they go on sale.

Also no b.s. over waiting in lines, or incompotent store employees asking stupid questions like "whatta ya need all dat ammo fer?"

The only thing I could see people still buying ammo there for is .22lr. Thats it.
Stop support big stupidity, shop somewhere else if you can help it.

Ah if the clerk for SG isn't around we just walk behind the counter and get the ammo. I've got about 2 minutes of patience with them. My friend is even worse; he'll walk around while the clerk is helping someone else.
