To answer your question about being arrested, probably. Remember that you can only use your pistol in defense of your life. Once you started chasing the guy, you were on the offense. Even if you were defending yourself at that certain point, the situation could've been avoided entirely. Personally I would've avoided stepping directly in front of or behind the car. But who knows how we would all act in those situations? (well, I guess you do, haha

But it's good to see you're OK.

You might get offended at this but I think it was in bad judgement to chase after a scumbag with a purse endangering life and limb for someone else's property. You could've casually followed him in your car from a distance and get his license number and let the cops do their job. There's no reason to get ran over and die in a walmart parking lot.

I too think you made a bad decision. Please remember that your concealed carry permit does not make you an LEO. If the BG was attacking you or your wife then by all means take him out, but to jump in front of a moving car, sorry, bad move (IMHO)

I definitely made mistakes. I don't mind being critiqued so if it ever happens again maybe I would do a few things differently. I'm just posting what happened when under the rush of adrenaline.
The cops said I did a good job if that counts for anything.

BTW, I really could not casually have followed him; it just wasn't in the cards but I get the point.

I think you did great. Considering you didn't have the time to sit down & evaluate the situation and say.."Ok, if I do this, this will be these consequences....and if I do this, this will happen".

I commend you on your ''spur of the moment reaction'' & trying to right a wrong that had been commited and not turning your back & walking away.

A lot of people will say that "they" would have done this or "they" would have done that.....but "they" were not there & were not put into that zero time to think situation.

Good job. You'll be replaying this over and over in your mind, asking what if I had done this ~ what if I had done that. You're still alive, no one got hurt, and both the cars owner and the LEOs said you did a good job. So, again I say "good job".
