Girlfriend is moving in tommorow... god help me.
Here's a little history of us. We dated in high school from when we were 15 to 18. We were eachothers first. It was amazing. I loved her to death. Then I ended it with her during senior year. Needed to be on my own and be with other girls (selfish i know some might say, but **** it) Anyways, always kept in touch, occassionally hooked up here and there. So about 2 years ago we started going out again, ill be 23 this september, she just turned 22 in april. I still love her, i never stopped. I'm pretty sure I want to marry her and be with her for the rest of my life, and she feels the same way, this girl loves me more than anything. She supports everything do in life. In fact she pretty much saved my life 2 years ago by helping me kick a nasty habit, something I try to forget about and deny ever happened, I dont think I give her enough credit for that. So, her parents lost their house unfortunatly, they have to be out by tommorow. We have all her stuffed packed up, and im moving her into my house today. I'm a little nervous about it, all of a sudden it feels like im being held captive. It kinda feels like im caged or something all of a sudden. I mean I love her to death, and as I said I want to be with her for the rest of my life. But as of lately there's been a girl or two catching my eye and I have "evil thoughts". I've never been unfaithful to her. Idk, i've just got all this stuff going through my head. I just thought I'd throw it out here and see what comes back..

You should feel lucky. You HAVE a girlfriend. Unlike me, I'm a total loser when it comes to finding a decent girl who would want anything to do with me... Sometimes I wonder if I ever will. I have my doubts now that I will be 33 in two days.

Sounds like you should just stay with her and everything will probably work out grand. On the other hand if you end it again then it may be over for good and things probably won't end up as good as if you just stay with her and cherish her.
Then again what do I know?

All sermonizing and Christianizing aside (which I've been known to do), my opinion: if you love the girl, marry her and then move her in. There's no ambiguousness about the relationship, and you'd be surprised at the real feeling of freedom that comes with that. Also offered up for consideration, I can't find the exact study right now, but as bad as our current divorce rate is in this country, it gets significantly worse when the couple in question lived together prior to marriage as compared to those who didn't.
And, my friend, the "evil thoughts" never stop, even for the most committed of us. That's where you step up and stay with your lady no matter how fine the T&A walking past happens to be. Just my .02, humbly offered.

Why don't you just marry her?
Terribly old fashioned concept, but why not? Highschool sweetheart, she saved your life. ?

Dan and Bill have it down.
Listen to Dan. Really. If you want to spend the rest of your life with her, do it married. If you want to spend the rest of your life with her, don't think that going and having fun first is going to make things work better. If you're going to have fun, have fun with her, and have fun married. Last edited by CommieHunter : 05-29-2008 at 11:28 AM. |

Marriage is life... Even in the animal world animals make commitments to each other. Work out your problems with her. Talk to her how you are feeling. Right on the money with Dan. I've been married for 25 years now... and I love my wife more so now then I did when we first started. Good luck JCABIN.
