Interesting facts regarding death rates

All information can be verified at Causes of Death > Other Accidents

In the year 2000 the number of children between the ages 0-18 who died due to the following causes....

MotorVehicles Accidents - 6,466
Fires - 1946
Drowning - 1,236
Accidental Gun Shooting - 174.

I guess my XD is much safer than my neighbors pool. Lets start a petition to have all swimming sports banned.

Sounds like a plan to me.....what about those of us without kids? Im not worried about kids getting my gun accidentally (a. because i dont have any, and b. my carry gun is always on my person or locked up with the others).

retards....people really need to focus on the important issues and solve those.

*slingshots bolt* I like swimming!!!!! Though I've started blacking out under water before and had to be pulled out. I've been shot at once, never hit. As of which, I think water is way more dangerous.

I thought the same thing Oreo, that is why I included the link to the web site. But you know what they say...... 90% of all statistics can be made to say anything you want. (50% of the time).

I also thought it rather low, then noticed we are looking at a category of "Other Accidents" ... I guess all the regular stuff is listed elsewhere

Speaking of death rates, if I recall correctly, every day on our planet, approximately 305,000 people are born & 155,000 people die.

It's been a while since I did the math, you can calculate it from the stats here: https://www.cia.gov/library/publicat...k/geos/xx.html or maybe I'll check it later tonight at work.

I'm not doubting you Deer, I just thought that the number sounded very low... I can name 3 kids who went to my school that have died this year alone...
