Anyone See Speed Racer?

The critics were brutal with this movie, but then again, what do they know? Nothing, usually.

I'm going to see it on my Birthday, Friday. I know, Iron Man kicks arse, and Indy is on another epic adventure, and I want to see them too! Iron Man looks like a wickedly cool movie, and I am a huge Indy fan. But, I have a soft spot for Speed Racer. As a kid, I used to watch re-runs of the cartoon in the early '80's. It was cheesy, but it was entertaining.

I saw the actual Mach 5 after they finished filming the movie, and it was a rather impressive set of wheels, I must admit. Has anyone seen this film yet? Did you like it? It is a family film, and there seems to be less and less of that these days.

Iron Man was good, I was expecting to see some bloopers of Robert Downey Jr. taking a line of coke, but he actually did a very good job in the movie.

Speed Racer... don't need a critic to tell me it's going to be a flop, especially after seeing the trailer (they put every good scene into the trailer ) and being warned off it by a friend who took his date to it. I'm apparently not the only one who hasn't gotten off his can to go to the new Indy, but it looks like it'll be good.

I have not seen the movie, but if nothing else I can spot a stinker a mile away. I've not just avoided, but run away from some movies because I knew they were going to suck.

I think Speedracer would fit into this category.

My recommendation is for you to see Iron Man on your birthday, and if you really feel the need to watch Speedracer then wait for it to come out on video.

Don't say I didn't warn you though.

In the last 2 weeks, I've seen Iron Man; Indiana Jones; and The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian. Which is more than I normally see in any given quarter.

Of those three, I'd say that Iron Man was the best with The Chronicles of Narnia (lots of epic battle scenes) and Indiana Jones tied. They were all great movies, and I don't think Speedracer is even in that same book regarding 'good movies'.

Apparently, he's back on the wagon and is clean.

IMO, that's a great thing. I like him as an actor.

Agreed, it was way more than I was expecting- definitely buying the DVD when it comes out. (hey, gotta do something at college besides study and shoot)

Was Prince Caspian all right? Haven't been out the house in three weeks and need some time to not run chainsaws and other equipment.

Yeah, it was good. I can't compare it to the book because I've only read The Lion Witch and the Wardrobe, but I thought it was good.

same deal with me.

For the movie actually being better than the book, I can watch The Last Of The Mohicans all day. I'd recommend any of the Leatherstocking novels.

Anyone actually seen Speed Racer?

I've seen it. Its a computer graphics extravaganza with brilliant colors and lots of swirly lights. It was a decent sort of movie with some funny moments but was a bit long; clocking in at over two hours. My kids who love movies like this got bored in a few places. I have also seen all of the other movies listed in this thread so I would probably put them in this viewing order:

1. Indiana Jones
2. Iron Man
3. Prince Caspian
4. Speed Racer.

From an audio visual standpoint Speed probably should be seen in the theater unless you have a wide screen TV with good home theater speakers. I can't imagine watching this on some smaller than 36 inches.

overshadowed by the epicness known as Iron Man. Speed Racer looks lame, its just even worse when you release a movie like this after Iron Man
