How does one live in a country for years...or in some cases their entire life...and NOT learn the lagnuage spoken by the majority?
How does one live in a country and make enough cake to afford housing in the San Fran area and NOT know the language? Unbelieveable. If my forefathers can drop Swedish and others can drop languages like Italian, German, Czech and Polish....why is it SO HARD for other immigrants to drop Chinese and Spanish? I guess, since our PC society has made it so friggin easy for the immigrants to NOT learn English...they CAN get by really well and there is no incentive to learn English. I can guarantee you that if YOU moved to China, Mexico or Spain...you would HAVE to learn their language or you'd be living under a bridge. - Brickboy240

Sorry to say this to you guys. I am Asian 29 year’s old living in
You might have 5% (guessing) that really don’t speak English just because they are old school, old people that don't want to learn or they are FOBish (fresh of the boat). People stick with their on ethnic back ground and that’s just the way it is. A lot of people feel better doing so. Which I totally disagree, but that’s just the way it is. Your broker or your advertising department probably has people in your office advertising to their own ethnic people. I am in no way trying to be racist, but American Caucasian does the same thing. A lot of people from all over the country want to stick with their own people just because they don’t want to get taken advantages off. Just because they say no sapeak englid doesn't mean they don't and that goes for all ethnic back ground who is trying to buy something and want you to leave them alone. You just have to work twice as hard. Why do you think big company wants diversity in their work place? Is not because the government said that you have to hirer minority. (Sometime I think so) Is because it generates more revenue and bring other Ethnic background to do businesses with them. Since I live in Vegas, I will give you an example. Do you know who generates the most revenues for the casinos? I spoke to a MGM management about this (ASIAN). And who do you think brings all the high roller from I didn’t mean to get off the subject. Want to sale houses to Asian? Learn their language. Learn 2 or 3 or 4. Asian get impress really easy (meaning those that do not speak English). It will be your ice breaker. Even learning a couple of sentences will give you that edge. Unfortunately we live in a world with different people. You have to adjust to your environment otherwise I think you should get out of the realtor business or sales period. Or you should just move out of that neighborhood you live in that you want to do business with so much. Being Caucasian has its advantages and disadvantages. If I can learn other languages, so can you. Don’t blame society for being what it is. Grow with it, learn from it. Sorry for being so lengthy, but I hope you get the point.

"I say it again, I stay black, you stay white. For my Mexican brothas and sistas, you learn English %^((*&%^)!"- Jeff Dunham.
Seriously, America technically doesn't have a national language, but it is quite irritating when you walk into a restaurant and hear "No habla Ingles" when you try to get an order across to your waiter. As for the discriminating customer, well, maybe the customer would be more comfortable in dealing with a representative of the same ethnicity- just a thought. |

Why do Asian peoples distrust anglos like you say? Is there a history of anglos ripping off Asians that I am not aware of? I have no desire to decieve or rip off Asians and I am as anglo as you can get. If anglos say they distrust anyone that is not anglo....we get tagged "racist" but apparently everyone else gets a pass?
Also, if you distrust anglos so much...the the HELL would you immigrate to a country that is FULL of us people? You know you're going to have to work with or deal with anglos...so why move there? I don't get this. Immigrants USED to immigrate to America because they actually LIKED the place and its people. They LIKED what America stood for and wanted to learn our culture and become Americans. This did NOT mean one gave up their culture or heritage...but melded into the one in which they moved into. These days, immigrants (legal and illegal) have disdain for the USA. They only come here to make money and thats it. To suck off the land and not have any appreciation for its culture, heritage or wanting to be any part of this place. This is sad, because they end up living and dealing only with other immigrants of their kind. They never learn to communicate with or appreciate where it is they live. Its as if we have become a nation of splintered groups that keep to themselves and don't trust anyone. Is there any wonder WHY no ethnic group likes or trusts the other? What kind of country is this turning into? Well, I am glad I did not grow up with this splintered mentality...I would have missed knowing some really nice people that were not like me. This is one of the things that bothers me greatly about the many wrong turns our country is taking. Without the big melting pot we once were...can we remain a great, cohesive country? - brickboy240

If you were referring to me, I wasn't implying distrust- I was aiming more for a familiarity due to a shared ethnicity.
If it was someone else, well, most humans are inherently irrational IMHO. |

1lowlife, you might want to reread the OP as he is a realtor and he is referring to his problems with his listings. He also mentions his Asian associate is who the prospective Asian clients talk to while ignoring him.
You were a tad harsh with him because you misread his post and obviously thought he was just someone trying to sell his own house. |

Who said anything about not learning a language? What if you just got to the country? You can't just "learn the lingo" in a short amount of time. I'm all for learning the language of the country in which you live but not all situations permit that. |
