conceal carry and caliber question
I currently own a SA XD service model in .40 that I found too cumbersome for concealed carry. I am 25, wear jeans and t-shirt everywhere, and had a lot of problems with that gun printing with my very skinny build, so I haven't been carrying often. Recently, I have payed more attention to the crime in my area and osme of teh stuff I have seen come through teh ER. I have decided that I want to carry a weapon pretty much all teh time. I think I need a smaller gun to successfully carry concealed with my lifestyle. The problem with that is the smaller caliber that ussually acocmpanies having a small gun.
Are pistols like this one: http://www.taurususa.com/products/pr...ategory=Pistol or this one: http://www.berettausa.com/product/pr...stols_main.htm worth looking at? What can other you guys suggest? I would like to keep it cheap. Probably no more than $350 if possible. Thanks for any suggestions guys.

Have you thought about something like this? It carries 6+1 but it has a smaller footprint then the 10+1 Millennium Pro. Plus, your should be able to get it for close to the amount you're wanting to spend.
I have the 10+1 version and love it. It's lightweight and reliable. http://www.taurususa.com/products/pr...ategory=Pistol

I second the Taurus MilPro
I have two, one an older 10+1 45 millenium and a new pt140 milpro. Both hide well on my frame with an IWB holster or tuck it into a pocket. The msrp on the taurus website is a little high. I have seen them in the 300 to 350 range a several dealers. gun-shows for even cheaper.

I'm 6'3" 150 lbs- blue jean, t-shirt all the time. Glock 23 is a nice size.

Isn't a G-23 the same size as his XD service?
Ranger- Why not save up another hundred dollars and buy an XD .40SC? You can use the mags from the service as a back up for the sub.

Just don't fall into the trap that a smaller gun means smaller caliber, there are many big caliber pups out there. SA just launched their new 3" 1911 .45 GAP recently and it looks to be a nice carry gun (IMHO).
My light-wear carry is a Taurus PT-111 9mm, and it has proven to be a comfortable and very concealable gun to CCW. Good luck on your search, be safe ...

03RangerXLT, I don't know which beretta you were looking at, when I was first looking for a gun I looked at a beretta 9000, but quickly decided it didn't fit my hand, think most people are happy with it though. I'm sort of in the same predicament as you, but I've been thinking about the XD40 subcompact. I'm pretty sure that I could conceal that fairly easily, plus I'd still be using the .40 that my service uses. Good luck to you. |

XD 9 SC works great for me....for your situation, i think a 5 shot revolver could work well for you....
if you're dead set on automatic a seacamp (copy) or kel-tec 380/32 could work too.
