Last year we had a local HS school kid with a promising football future. He's now worm food. It seems some parents thought it would be a good idea to throw a party AND include alcohol. Little Chad was doped up on coke and alcohol. Took his new sports car and killed himself...not intentionally. Several years ago, I had an incident with a kid in our neighborhood pool that was swearing left & right 'F.. this' etc. The pool was filled with small children, women, and spineless jellyfish that called themselves men. And a lifeguard that was supposed to enforce the pool rules or call the cops...who was a teenager too afraid to do neither. I jumped in the pool, asked to see the kid for a minute figuring it would be less embarrassing for him if I gave him an attitude adjustment away from his football buddies. I politely reminded him that there were women and children around and said 'do me a favor and check the foul language at the gate.' He got outraged. I don't recall the exact exchange but it boiled down to me standing there and enticing him to 'do it! take a swing, boy!' I had not moved an inch yet he was getting further away until his friends grabbed him. He threatened me again with his friends. I told him that I didn't care about his friends...but he was going to get the beating of his life before they got to me.' They pulled him out of the pool and left...while I told him to come back when he was man enough to back up his words. This same punk went later went after a friend of mine, probably 2 wks later. In the guy's front yard, the kid called him every name in the book and spat on him. The guy did nothing because, according to him, he didn't want to get sued. My wife was with me when we heard the news and summed it up well....'I'd have to go to the bank to get money to bail him (referring to me) out of jail.' Every year we have stupid crap like this that happens. Every single stinkin' year. And it doesn't seem to matter where you live around here. The more expensive neighborhoods seem to have more spoiled losers. It all boils down to parents. They suck!!! They are too busy being the kid's friend versus being a parent. I was no angel as a kid, but I knew that if I was going to do something and I got caught, the worst consequence was coming from Dad's belt. When I did stuff and I did get caught, my Dad never went to the neighbor and said 'you leave my child alone.' I recall one time where he did go to the neighbor, but he told him that 'my son will be coming over later to apologize and clean up the mess. And I assure you it won't happen again.' And after getting the snot smacked out of me and losing all privileges for some period of time, I was told to do just that. Now I guess that's deemed child abuse |

I hate summer, too! Well...the weather anyways.
Here in Houston, from the end of May to the middle of October...its 95 degrees (or hotter!) and 95% humiity. No breeze to speak of and any breeze that comes feels like standing in front of a big blow dryer. Totally uncomfortable. Walk outside and you're sweating in seconds. You cannot enjoy being outside here to save your life. My Swedish fair skin does not agree with the blazing sun, either. Burns me to a crisp. October through May is wonderful here, but yes, I could live without summer.....whew....its hot! - brickboy240
