Ft. Worth TX Gun Show
We went to the High Caliber gun show today. I checked prices on just about everything and they were all nearly equal to retail gun shop prices. The only thing that was cheaper was the XD45 Compact lol!. After we drove all the way out there and paid the entry fee it just ain't worth it. Even the ammo was more expensive than it was at Bass Pro. At least my girl got to handle a AR15 I want for me'her... and I looked at a few used Smiths.
Are all of the gun shows like this now?

yep,
i think the only thing gunshows are good for now are to look around. Perhaps you might get lucky with a private deal from another person that shows up to the show. |

Yep. We walked by a table that was over loaded with used automatics. I noticed some Glocks that had the Tennifer worn badly from being holstered repeatedly. He wanted $450 each. Unreal.

Last gun show I went to was in February of this year when I was looking for the XD45 Tactical. Saw two prices. One guy had one for $550 and another guy had one for $575. Ended up going to my normal gun shop and got the Tactical for $489. I agree with justinbaker. Best deals you are going to get are from private people who have items for sale. But then it's a slim chance they may have what you are actually looking for. Ended up also buying some pieces/parts for some of my guns. Prices were comparable to what you could get them for on the internet, but now a lot of the vendors charge sales tax and it is about the same as paying shipping on an internet deal. There ARE still some deals at the shows but you have to look hard and get there early before they are gone. Best deal I could say I got was 6 boxes of factory .223 (Remington) for $7.00 a box without tax. Saved a few dollars from the Walmart $8.50/9.00 price.

Houston gunshows are worth it - I find. I got a bitone XD 45 (stainless slide and OD frame - ONLY one in the show) for $495 last month. They want $550-$560 at my shop for one.
I also bought a PX4 9mm Beretta for $399 in Feb at a show - There are $535 here in town. |

Never been to a gun show and after hearing various reports I don't see the point unless you just need something to do. Sort of like going to the flea market, it used to be cheap but now they all think it's retail too!
I figure just about anything I want I can research and buy on line. |

Guns shows aren't what they used be 10 years ago.
They were the place to buy ammo. Also back then you could go to a table and say "So and So is selling this XD9sc for $50 less than you. Will you match his price?". Back then, they would confirm the price and beat it. Now they say, "Then I guess you should go buy it from So and So". The gun show is a good place to LOOK at firearms and test holsters. But that is about it.....

No sh*t Brother.
If we only knew.................. I just bought a Ruger LCP. I had no idea that 380auto ammo costs just as much as 45ACP ammo.
