You are sorta right. I bought XOM a year ago, it's only up 12.56% The last week or so, everytime oil goes up, the stock goes down, when oil "eases off" it goes up a little.

As a comparison, here are my holdings:
CTRP up 107.29%
PCAR up 50.70%
KO up 31.68%
MSFT up 23.41%
XOM up 12.56
DIS up 11.88%

Exxon is second from the bottom, not exactly helping me retire early. But also, I figure it isn't going away anytime soon, so I'll hold it a while.

We've had good luck with XOM. Bought it in 95 and have been nothing but happy over the long term.



I think you would do well to hold on to it for a long time as a chart like this will help you retire....maybe early.
