308 M1 Garand

does anyone here own a 7.62(30 M1 Garand, or knows someone who does?

it came up in conversation, and i only know of one.

I have two Garands, but both are .30-06 like God intended.

The 7.62 Garand got fairly common a few years ago when surplus .30 M2 Ball started to look like it might run out in the forseeable future. The 7.62 started going crazy and they slowed down. A lot of guys with M-14 platform rifles do that conversion on the Garand so they only have to keep one kind of ammo around. IIRC, the original 7.62 Garands were built for the Navy and those are fairly rare.

M1A1 is a 308 I believe, not technically an M1 but in conversation they seem to be intertwined once in a while.

ive seen the Navy's at gun shows, but the only personal rifle that ive ever seen was a friend of the family, he converted it his self.

I owned a gen 1 30.06, but nvr the .308...now I did have a springfield .308 bolt action, 1903
