Are there any MRE's that actually taste good that anyone recommends? What's the best way to store them long term? Seems like canned foods are the way to go if you don't like the taste of MRE's.

Wow---that has fraud, waste and abuse written all over it. I could see if it was old military equipment you dont have to turn in anymore - but those were probably issued to him not to long ago.

This is the cheapest way to go. MRE's have the advantage of being easy to carry, but for a much cheaper price you can stock foods that are canned or dried. If you live in a flood prone area you might want to keep them out of the basement. No one wants to fish cans of chili out of sewer water.

MREs - APack Ready Meals - Self-Heating Emergency Meals Ready to Eat is where I usually buy MRE's by the case. You can also get good deals at Discount Hunting Gear, Discount Hunting Boots, Discount Shoes, Discount Ammunition, Discount Ammo, Discount Boots, Military Surplus, Outdoor Gear At the Sportsman's Guide. Mountain House freeze drieds in #10 cans can also be found at Sportsmans Guide or direct from Mountain House by the case.

Right you are. In fact, after getting them home I noticed the following verbiage on the side of each case: "U.S. Government Property. Commercial Resale is unlawful."

I've thought about getting some MRE's for emergency purposes but the shelf life isn't as long as I would have expected. Canned foods have a longer one than MRE's and they are cheaper.
