Someone tried to get into the apartment this afternoon...

Some of you may remember my ongoing woes with gangs and graffitti etc. Well, today while i was at class, my girlfriend was home alone, someone tried getting through the locked door. She thought it was me at first, and said "sweetie do you need in?" then wondered why i hadn't used my key yet. Good thing she decided not to open the lock. Whoever was attempting to get into the place apparently decided that they didn't want in that bad and left, good thing too, because my girlfriend was in the bedroom armed with a phone and a shotgun....

the neighborhood's gone to hell...

I'm glad evrything turned out ok. That can be pretty scarey though. It would have been really bad for the person trying to get in it sounds like.

i'm here in chico. and yeah...its a good thing for the guy trying to get in. My GF is only 5'4....but she knows how to use every gun in the apartment and we've gone over what to do in exactly this situation.

In fact, i'll go ahead and use this as a platform and say if you haven't made a plan on what to do in an attempted home invasion, make a plan and make sure everyone in your home knows what to do. If you have a plan, maybe its a good time to go over it with the people in your home...Hope for the best and prepare for the worst...

It's that bad in Chico? I thought that was just a college town? I almost went to Chico State back in the '90's.

I lived in Chico for 8 years going to the CSU. Let me tell you that town is going to hell and fast. (class of 2007/2008 )

DO you live in the AVE's? Or over by the race track?

That is typically the getto type areas. I lived on Nord mostly but spend a few years on the AVE's, Wish I had gotten my CC license back when I lived there.

i live out on East Lassen, on the north side of town. I live about as far away as possible from college town USA, for the exact reason that it is slum-ville. This is my 3rd year in chico, and its gotten progressively worse every year. This is the first time anything like this has happened though.

Afmo, MY last year I moved to an apartment over by denny's on cohasset. Same street as Sin of Cortez. Check that place out if your looking to move. Was very quiet and good neighbors. Called Train Station Apartments. I was paying $700 for a 1 bedroon, but it was clean and worth it.

I've lived in the Zoo, Nord Gardens, West Park Plazza, HAd a place on Rio Lindo, Train Station Kicked all there asses. Nice quiet place.

If your in a lease you can get out based on safety concerns.

College kids buy a LOT of drugs, so in this day and age many college towns attract drug gangs.

Yeah i know exactly where your talking about. I'm pretty bummed because i like where we live, and we've never had this type of blatant intrusion before....
