Plane Crash near Fort Worth

WHOOPS!!!!

DENTON CO., Texas -- No injuries were reported after a small plane landed on top of another single-engine plane Thursday afternoon at Northwest Regional Airport near Roanoke in southern Denton County.
A red airplane was attempting to take off to the north when another plane landed on top of it at about 2 p.m. Both pilots walked away from the collision unharmed. Fuel was spilled but was cleaned off the runway.

The Federal Aviation Administration has launched an investigation into the incident.

Those are some lucky pilots!

A radio personality here in Chicago died of nearly the exact same thing a couple years back.

Is it repairable? The helicopter pilot on the news this afternoon was saying it had a fabric covered wing. He was also talking about how the number is from an old system. Do they get to use old numbers on old planes?

I would guess, yes, it is repairable, but I cannot say that it is worth it (money wise) to repair it. I think that it was an older man that owned it so he may not have the cash!?!

Unfortunately, I bet the FAA will call it both their faults so their insurance companies probably wont help very much with out the rates going more than sky high.

On a side note, I also worked at the airport as a line girl in high school (fueling airplanes, selling pilot gear, and stuff). In that year I worked there I watched three planes crash and heard about two others that happened when I was not at work!!!! It is a very dangerous airport if you are not careful.

Thank goodness both pilots were safe. They were very lucky.

I would be pissed if I were either one of them. Even if it is repairable, there has to be some damage that will just always be there.

I've never been a fan of the "equal fault" laws some states have with auto accidents. Not that there aren't situations where both parties are at fault, but I know I've been screwed before where I was hit in a parking lot and it was declared "equal fault". I can't imagine how expensive plane insurance would be if you had any kind of accident on your record.

Ok I don't wanna sound like TOO much of a nerd, but look at the two airplanes. The one on the top has low wings, one on the bottom has high wings. This is actually a common accident in general aviation where the wings block the other plane.
