Carrying a gun in vehicle with permit

I've tried reading the AR laws regarding how you are supposed to legally carry a gun in your vehicle if you have a concealed carry permit, but I haven't found that useful. I keep my pistol either between the seats in my truck or in a little hole in my car so that its easily accessible if I ever need it. Basically, I'm wondering if its legal like this or must it be out of site?

I know that in Michigan it has to be out of site at all times. Even when in your vehicle. Laws in your state could be different though.

When you have a permit in the state you are driving the law generally allow you to have your pistol where ever you decide. However they do not allow it to be displayed as in lying on your dash. Center consoles, door pockets, between the seat and a like are acceptable. I use my center console, driver seat or it's holstered. Give a call to the station, the main thing is you are able to legally conceal.

I'd be wary of accepting legal advice from anonymous individuals on an internet forum. I'm not trying to impugn anybody's integrity, but mistaken advice could result in you losing your right to CC.

I would suggest you contact the Arkansas state attorney general's office, and request a written response.

+1 defenitly want an official of some sort to fill you in.

but for conversations sake, here in maine, without a permit you can have as many guns in your car as you want - they just have to be safed and IN PLAIN SIGHT like on your dashboard or on the seat next to you. but if you have a permit, they can be loaded and anywhere you want them, concealed or not.

Very true. Also ask about location. I know here in UT, you can have it out, like in a door pocket, but it cannot be accessible by any passenger in the vehicle, otherwise it's said to be in their possession as well. If it's concealed in a center console, that could cause an issue. Good luck.

I was just curious if anyone had encountered this issue yet. I plan on contacting the attorney general and I'll post back on here what I hear back. Thanks guys!

There is a book that explains the gun laws for every state, which my father just purchased. I'll try to borrow it this weekend and see what it says.

For NH pretty much anything goes....
