Anyone have trouble shooting with contacts in?
The last two times I've gone shooting I noticed that my vision blurred after a few shots making it hard to reacquire a good, focused sight picture. Anyone else have this problem? Is it my contacts or are the stock sights on the XD just hard to pick up for follow up shots? Will tritium sights make a difference?

You didn't mentioned your age, I am fifty-five. Unlike like the days of my youth when my eyes were sharp I now wear glasses. Most of our eyes goes through a big change at forty and above. I found that by coloring my rear sight bright green and front sight bright orange via tru-glow sight paint it eliminated the blurs and restored my pick up time. The problem is as we age certain colors like white dots are harder to see. The bright safety green, not the dark green and safety orange works really well. hope this helped. Good luck.

I'm 46 and wear contacts. My ability to shoot and hit a target has improved exponentially. I hold my own with the XD. With an AR I'm on an even level with most AR guys I shoot against. Even if those guys have Aimpoints and Eothingys
Shooting my 16" slickside carbine is espcially rewarding. Simple accurate and fast. I can finally make a decent showing against the EOthingy crowd. Without contacts I'd still be shooting patterns with whatever I was shooting at the time. ZM |

Maybe you should look into getting some new contacts.. I love having contacts now, and they havent negatively effected my gun shooting. However, when I used to wear glasses, they sometimes gave me a hard time while shooting certain rifles.. or if youre using a type of ammo that puts alot of particulates into the air, they may be making contact with your lenses and causing your focus to go in and out. try some new ammo before committing to a new brand of contacts.

Some people's eyes simply aren't suited for contacts, while others can wear them no problem.
Like me, you might be one whose eyes aren't suited for them. So I chose to have the IntraLasik procedure done on my eyes. I can now see fine, and shoot as well as I ever did with glasses or contacts. Many ophthalmologists who perform Lasik will give you a free complete eye exam to see if your eyes are suited for the procedure. The majority of people qualify. |

I'm 49 and have worn contacts for 22 years. You might be concentrating so hard on maintaining your aim between shots that you aren't blinking enough. I also have a harder time with my near range focus as I have gotten older. I think I will give rube's suggestion a try.
I'm assuming I can find this sight paint at my local gun shop. |

I'm 33 and never have issues with my contacts in any other aspect. I ride a Harley daily with my contacts in wearing sunglasses and never have a problem. It's only when I'm shooting, after a few rounds everything goes blurry and I have to repeatedly blink my eyes and really strain to pick up a clear sight picture. I am shooting reloads that I bought at a gunshow so maybe I'll try shooting some factory stuff to see if that makes a difference.

I am 32 and wear contacts. Because I have astigmatism I use toric lenses with the weights in them to keep them from spinning. I have had one or the other spin on me during shooting, usually from the smoke/air movement of the range. it is annoying a bit, but I am very used to that since it happens once in a while whenever there is air movement, or if my eyelid catches the lens just right. Is that what type of lenses you have? Cause normal contacts spin and shouldn't cause blurriness. I actually shoot better with my contacts than my glasses, in general I get several points of acuity better with contacts because of my astigmatism. I make sure I have eye drops with me at the range, because of the ventilation and the smoke I sometimes have to lube up!

I just where regular asphiric lenses. I know my eye doctor said I have a very slight astigmatism but did not prescribe special lenses. I am shooting at an indoor range and there is a lot of air movement in there. Next time I go I'll be sure to try using eye drops before shooting to see if that helps.
