Dog medical question
I have a Jack Russell Terrier and I have noticed that when he gets really mad or scared that I can smell something horrible comming from him . My wife noticed it too. Well , today i tokk him to the Vet and he was mad because this wasnt his house nor yard and he is all scared and mad at the same time and is constantly growlling at people and the vet (it was kinda funny ) . Well after we left and got into the truck I smelled the smell . I tracked it to his butt and there was a fluid that was thick and it smell AWEFULL . This was what I have been smelling all along . This fluid looked like it had benn excreted from his butt and I am guessing that when he gets mad he excretes it like a defense mechanism. Anyone know what this is and if its normal?

Have your vet clean his anal glands. You can do it yourself but it's not very pleasant.

Why does it seem to come out (fluid) when he is mad? Does he tighten up his butt and it comes out because of that ?

I had to have this done and it cost me 100 bucks becouse they needed 2 people to do it. They told me it was toxic for the dog. Becouse the glands will swell and back the dog up.

He certainly aint backed up , he did a big ole log this morning!!!! Even put one of mine to shame!!!!
