Living in MI, eh? I certainly feel your pain on the economic situation...it's pretty grim here. I'm lucky I found a good job that gives me benefits.

Does it HAVE to be Chicago? I mean, there are plenty of other cities in the country that will have better offerings for you.

Exactly! That's what I was saying earlier. If she is absolutely not open to compromise on location there is something wrong.

Since when is a ring and fancy ceremony required to be married? If she feels that it is you have another sign of an underlying materialism that needs to be addressed. Getting married costs $40 here, and probably not much more anywhere else.

And to tell a story that I might have told here before, the wife and I were going to Chicago on vacation about 2 years ago. We knew it was a dangerous city, and she said something about taking our guns. When I informed her that the state of Illinois did not allow private citizens to carry guns, her exact words were "Thank God we live in Alabama!"

Yeah, I found a keeper.

Yeah, I was bringing up other states in which to find a job. When I went into depth about the current gun legislation in Cook County as well as everything that has happened in the past month, she asked, "Have you ever look to the South?"

I might have to renounce my being a yankee.

Royally screwed up intelligent analytic mind. We need more laws to protect these three rights. Ban guns in schools, it obviously works.
