Booya!

Just finished up my CPL course today...and what a cakewalk! Luckily the instructors were both nice and very knowledgeable, so the class was interest at least.

The best part were the few people who had obviously never handled a gun in there life, and will probably only shoot once or twice a year after today...one chick couldn't get through an entire magazine without a jam, while the instructor could blow through one without as much as a hiccup. Both her and some other guy took FOREVER to shoot...I wish people would shoot a gun once or twice before had to get some practice in.

But otherwise it was a great experience. I was the only one with a .22...a lot of people brought .40's. Everyone else shot spot on as well. The drills were to empty your mag in a variety of stances (weaver, isocolese, left/right cant) and kneeling as fast as you could while still hitting paper at 21 feet. Having the .22 made me look awesome since I can get fantastic groups at the distance, even when shooting as fast as my fingers will let me. For some reason the best part was shooting point of aim, where you just brought the gun up quickly, fired two rounds without looking at sights, looked around you real quick and repeat.

Also...getting a new handgun tomorrow! Sad news is...might be getting an M&P instead of XD My instructor was giving those praise all day...although he did say he liked the XD as well. I dunno...

Congrats on the corporals course. Get whatever feels best to you, not your instructer.

+1000 get whatever one feels better to you in your hand and points more naturally for you, and congrats on passing the course.

Try and shoot before you buy. It is a big investment, to not take a test drive. I shot four different guns before deciding on an XD. Trust me, you'll know pretty quick what feels right in the hand.

I've shot both...a full size M&P .45, an XD9 tactical, and an XD9 service. TBH the both have their pros and cons, and I'm having a hard time figuring out which I'd like. The M&P just feels like a smoother gun in terms of operation, but the XD points better and feels better.

I think price is going to be a large factor tomorrow. I'm also still not sure if I want a sub compact or service. I feel the service will be better suited for range use, obviously, and I'm probably going with a PPS once I get my concealed license. That being said I like small guns...

F that, They are still jamming, I won't buy one until they rework them (all new guns go through one rework, even the xd had problems when called HS200) It hasn't been cleaned up yet, don't buy it. AK47 had to be reworked its on the 8th generation or something like that.

That being said, you want a couple suggestions to go and try and they won't jam. A midsize glock (if your wrist is weird the angle could be for you, but I highly doubt it, I think its made to fire from the hip, only thier 9mm and 10mm are really reliable IMO)

A springfield XD for carry I'd say either the sub-compact, but preferably the .45 compact which is awesome

An Hk P30 (you'd have to pick it up to believe it also has the interchangeable back strap and side panels, try it with all three)

A sig 225 just ask luvmysig225

Ruger SLP reputedly is amazing and haven't heard of any problems and for compact carry is amazing fits in my pocket great when I tried it.

Any .357 wheel gun snub should work great.

DO NOT TRUST YOUR LIFE TO
A kahr (unless every time you fire you check it for wallowing on the frame meticulously)
A SW MP they are still jamming up
A kel tec

We need more laws to protect these three rights. Ban guns in schools, it obviously works.

You like a service, and small guns, paradoxical go get the .45 compact for the xd (or HK P30 but its a crappy 9mm)

I ended up buying the XD9 SC in all black. The 10 round mags definitely need a pierce extension to be usable, however the extended mag feels like heaven in my hand. I opted for the SC because with the mag extension I think it will work out well as a range gun...and I've heard that accuracy with them is still damn good, even compared to the service and tactical. Not a huge fan of large guns, even for strict range use.
