The main problem is every single person varies in both thier physical and mental maturity. Some (both male and female) may look physically ready to partake in the mating ritual (they themselved may think so) but mentally are really not ready for it. The flip side some may be mentally ready but they still look like they are 13-15 when they are 18-19. These laws are put into place at an age where it's a general norm for both mental and physical maturity to be achieved, some are late bloomers some are early... I think the laws should remain in tact and protect some young lady (I don't care how hot... you have a hand) from an older guy who's just looking to wet his wick untill she's more mentally capable of dealing with casual sex. Casual sex is an entirely different topic (no matter how fun) that has it's own problems that I won't go into here. I also don't agree (no matter how willing an under age male is) with an older woman seducing him. If she's going for younger men it's obviously not for his mental maturity because at 17 y/o the guy is probly still laughing histarically at poop jokes, hardly impressive for a 25+ y/o woman. Lafave was married (another problem I have with what she did) she was looking for something most likely missing in her married in the worng way and now has messed up some young man's perception on how relationships work, he'll probly continue to have relational problems for the rest of his life because of her.

haha, I was just trying to stress a point. I'll be 26 thursday and I'd be lying if I said I didn't laugh at them too.

does it say how old the teacher is?

cause men are ready for sex at 13...but females are only ready for sex at 30...

at least thats what im gonna tell my kids some day.

Robinsre: The point of my last line was not this individual case but the over arching precedent; namely that a male teacher shagging a 16 year old goes to jail 99% of the time while a female teacher shagging a 16 year old rarely gets jail time. This is because we somehow believe that women aren't sexual creatures.

I didn't say that I was in favor of my daughter having sex with ANYBODY, much less a 30 year old. I did however say that it should be none of the government's business. That includes if it's my child or not. Now, if rape is involved that's a whole different case.

Convenience was not at all involved... it would have been more convenient not to edit your comment at all. I left off portions of your reply that, in my view, were not pertinent to my question, which you still have not answered:

My question was:
To my point, how many children do you have? What are their ages and sex?

In my original post on this matter, my point was people tend to have a more disinterested, or impersonal, view of how things ought to be. And, this viewpoint changes greatly when they get involved at a personal level.

Right or wrong, double standard or not.....

If I catch a 20 something with my 14 yo daughter there will be a problem.

If I catch a 30 something with my 17 yo son, we'll have a talk.

That said, a person holding authority over some one else, regardless of age should not be involved sexually with the underling or using said authority for personal gain in any way.

When I was in highschool, I'd have crawled naked through crushed glass to get in invitation to the chemistry lab stock room with her. Who's kidding who?

I remember some of the guys on the football team were 'plugging' the girls PE teacher, no-foul no-penalty.
