Does anyone else believe that....

a tool that has not been used for a year will "seek" blood? That it will turn on its operator and cause an injury to quench its thirst for the sweet sweet nectar of human blood? Cause I dragged out an old toolbox this afternoon, and I'm feeling dizzy now and the keyboard is slippery and I'm gonna pas.....*THUD*

Seriously, one of my friends told me about this. It almost kinda makes sense, in a "Christine" kind of way. I've never injured myself with the socket set, which gets used every weekend. But I've got a decent collection of hand scars from things like wire strippers, snap-ring pliers, and my SKS sight tool (just don't even ask, just...don't...ask.)

So what do you think? Injuries from unfamiliarity with the tool in question......OR......the perverse malignancy of the inanimate?

I'm gonna lean towards the perverse malignancy theory. A tool is made to be used. It's whole purpose is to perform some specific function to the satisfaction of its owner. When a tool does not get used in said manner it gets restless... if it is used in a manner contrary to its design, it gets downright wrathful!

But you have to watch these tools... they are sneaky lil' ba$tards. They don't form a military march line and attack en masse. Nor do the engage in guerilla warfare. Rather, when peeved, they will wait until you want them and need them and THEN they will strike with such visciousness that you are often left stunned in the aftermath, wondering what happened.

...much like a woman who claims she has a headache after 10-15minutes of foreplay...

Now, I'm not saying that women are tools. They clearly are not since we, as men, so often seem to work/play/sex/function around their desires, timings, and whims. Often we are the tools.

But I digress...

You remember the movie 'Beauty and the Beast'? If Disney hadn't been there to record those events, and instead has waited a couple of more years when Lumiere and Cogsworth had finally had enough of being ignored and uncared for, the story would have been very different.

Imagine Lumiere as a pilot light for a flame thrower. I'm sure that they had some high concentration alcohol there. Cogsworth would have been attacking people using his little gears like throwing stars.

THAT, my friend, is the true nature of a neglected tool. Not grateful that it finally gets to see the light of day and fulfill the purpose of its creation -- noooooo. It is spiteful, vengeful and will strike at you once it is in your hand.

REMEMBER... use your tools, lest you are the unwitting victim of the upcoming Stanley/Black&Decker apocalypse!

Call me a spoiler of your fun. But I think its a lack of familiarity coupled with a lack of remembering how sharp (usually how dull=too much pressure) how wallowed out, and how lacking in oil the things are.

Now new tools are given respect and are used carefully due to we understand we don't have familiarity, and they are in tip top shape, but a used tool is in bad shape, and sure we used it every day for five years, but not using it for three our motor skills for it are gone.

We need more laws to protect these three rights. Ban guns in schools, it obviously works.

I know that cheap ass Chinese made tools bite. After I threw two sets of fake Channel-Locks across the yard the other day, I put em in the garbage.

That's crazier than the concept that humans are causing temperatures to increase globally, while the polar ice caps on Mars are retreating at the same time.

Let your gun therefore be the constant companion of your walks.
