How should I conceal?

I've decided to buy the XD .40 sub compact. I know there are many ways to conceal depending on personal preference, what you're wearing etc but...does anyone have any personal advice? I'm trying to avoid spending $50 on something only to find out later that it's uncomfortable. What about ankle holsters? Thanks.

Pocket? Can't say I've ever put an XDSC in my pocket...my P22 fits alright, I guess. It's certainly the cheapest choice, unless you wear hotpants on a regular basis

I have found the Crossbreed supertuck to be very comfy with my 45 compact.

Now I dont have my Concealed carry yet, but ive been breaking it in around our farm with no complaints what so ever

You are best to start with the likes of a K&D Dakota Defender, Crossbreed of some sort or MTAC. Anyone of those three holster for $70 - $85 or so will probably stick with you for a very long time but better yet, you'll probably stick with one of these three super comfortable and concealing holsters for just as long. They're amongst the benchmarks in IWB, CCW holsters!

I have the minotaur made by comp-tac. I carry the xd .45 service with no problems to speak of. Nothing you put on at first is comfortable, you have to get used to carrying a pistol on your hip. That being said, I found this holster to be very easy to get used to. Customer service was excellent, and the product arrived within 10 days from order. good luck with your choice and let us know which holster you get.

BTW: welcome to the forum

I've got an XD9SC, which is the same size as a .40 (basically, just a different barrel).

I've got an ankle holster for it, but this gun is too big and heavy to wear on the ankle. It feels like I've got a brick tied to my leg, and is very uncomfortable. It also makes my pant leg look weird.

The subcompacts are also not pocket pistols. I have a pocket holster for my subcompact, but the only pockets it will fit in are on my cargo pants. It's too big for normal sized pockets on jeans, slacks, etc.

Carrying on the belt works best for me, and I suppose just about everyone else. Either IWB, or OWB. I carry OWB in winter, and IWB in summer.

I would imagine there are good shoulder holsters, too, but I haven't tried that yet.

Thanks everyone. This was very helpful. I think I'll give the Crossbreed Supertuck a try.

Here is some personal advice. You need a holster that will ride low to the belt line, and to be able to adjust the angle of the grip.
Our holsters offer both.
Are in stock for immediate shipping.
Offer two different ways to attach very securely to your belt, and you get your choice of colors.
Chris if you try our holster and you don't like it simply send it back

Nobody can tell you how you should carry. It is an entirely individual matter. One method or holster may rub you the wrong way while 500 other people say it is the cat's meow.

There are some general principles but after that you have to try different things to see what works best for you. That's the way it is.
