Thats just stupid. I'm not taking anything away from bow hunters, thats a lot of dedication, but the animals rights people (I'm assuming were behind this some how) should know that a bullet is more humane and faster to kill than a arrow (unless your robin hood). Have you guys seen the arrow heads they have on the market??? My bro bow hunts, holy crap you'd think sadists came up with them.

Correct me if I am wrong but I believe IL deer hunters can not use rifles. A story I was told was a IL game warden got on an island in the Mississippi river and used GPS to "bust" several hunters for having rifles in IL. They thought they were in MO. The game warden confiscated the rifles and issued a summons.
At court the judge talked to the first hunter about what happened and offered a deal. Plead guilty to a misdemeanor get a $100-200 fine and get your gun back. All of the hunters took the deal. The game warden was pissed, he was on a power trip, and wanted the max penalty.

soon, everyone will have to hunt with water guns - unless those are banned too.

I think it's reasonable...in Ohio we can't use rifles either. Fact of the matter is you can still kill a deer with a shotgun or muzzleloader just as easy.
I think it does stem from trajectory and so on....but again, i could live with this one.

With todays modern muzzle loaders and rifled shotgun bbls with sabot slugs you end up with close to the same velocity and range as a standard rifle. I can see the logic of Bow hunting only and maybe shotgun W/buckshot only in some areas. The only thing that works is between your ears. ( brain safety) I have hunted moose and bear with my 50 ca muzzle loader. Although i would never think about hunting them with a 223 or a 243. Point being a muzzle loader will kill or cause more damage then some rifles. Just my 2 cents on this topic.

Yeah, what TF said. Ohio may be moving toward allowing it though. I grew up there but now live in Indiana, which allow hunting with rifles in a handgun caliber (such as .44 or .357). Ohio really has a very good game management program, unlike Pennsylvania's 3-on-a-side-is-that-a-buck-or-not and other nonsense they come up with.

Why don't they just go back to hunting deer with 30-30's?? I'm sure that would be just as much fun with those old lever action rifles. The trajectories drop a lot faster on those.
