the best thing I have done for my health is I started biking. It started with just riding my bike to class, then I started riding it to run erronds, then to work, now I am riding about 20 miles a day between work, school, and erronds. The beauty of riding a bike is its not an extra activity on top of everything else, it just becomes how you get around, and when you done all your stuff for the day you dont have to take up your free time exersising.

I went from being fat 175lbs to being lean 150lbs. Then I started lifting weights, and adding an extra 20 miles a day to my ride, and taking a protine supliment, now I am 200lbs.

warning about doing a lot of bike riding, your thys get big...mine hit 28" around...lol

I'm in the same boat you are. I recently started a diet and exercise regimen and although I haven't lost an extraordinary amount of weight yet I can feel myself getting better.

4-5 days a week I bring a lunch of baby carrots and cottage cheese instead of the normal sandwich or going out for lunch.

2-3 days a week I'm taking Aikido classes at a local place.

Every night I try to do push-ups until I can't push any more.

I've found that I wake up with more energy. I keep a more regimented sleep schedule. I can run longer through the day without feeling run down and tired, and my mood has improved.

Just a few small changes here and there, and keep adding on to them.

Remember it's not a diet, or a few days of exercise. It's a lifestyle change that will keep you in shape and happy.

I'm only 5'11" and I feel real good at 250 lbs. I was usually around 240 in highschool, but I tend to be sluggish if I get that low anymore.

I am sure you know this, but you need to volunteer/schedule some time for your health. If you don't make it part of your routine you will find ways to avoid doing it.

It's different for everyone but for me, I have to work out first thing. I have my two cups of coffee and hit the gym for 45 to 60 min. Then you come out all energized for the day while everyone else is dragging in and eating donuts. They hate you because you are all chipper!

I tried it after work but there is always something more important and the gym is crowded. If you do it first, it's out of the way. Getting old sucks, we have to beat the reaper and the prescriptions of the day - do what you can, just do it on a schedule you can keep.

A side benefit, I try to find ways to make it apply to shooting! You can squat with your body weight and bring you hands up and point in the shooting position. Anything requiring you to grip will help your shooting.
Lunging side to side can be good practice in getting off the X so you are a moving target. Yeah, thats the ticket....shooting exercises, we can start a whole new thing! Ummmm, might be an opportunity there.

After a battle with cancer and two heart attacks i had to go through 6 months of Rehab. They put me through the mill. Thought they was going to kill me.
Treadmill, stationary bike , walking , swimming, weight lifting every day five days per week.

I gained weight. Went from 205 up to 280 but i feel better. It has been over two years and i am still staying at 6'2' and 280 lbs. I guess at 57 years old i can't complain. To this day i still weight lift and do the treadmill every day.

Is that one set or two? I've found you do one set to 80% of what you feel you can do then you give it five minutes do some crunches walk around for a minute then you do one more set and you do more than you would have that first round, so you more than double how many you do....thats just me though

When I was in shape it was 60, crunch, 75, crunches, 90, crunches max out lay on floor for five minutes..now its like 50 crunch 75 lay on floor ten minutes...
