If you jump up 5-7 pounds in the next two weeks don't be alarmed. Just an FYI some people put on a little muscle before they start burning fat, no matter what happens short of an ER trip keep going. Weve had some good threads in the past on how to get in shape if you need suggestions.

Remember your back of everything is the #1 thing I tell people, so do some superman exercises (lay on stomach lift everything but stomach off the floor as far as you can) if you don't exercise both sides of a motion you'll get hurt.

Anyone I know that runs looks at me with a blank stare when I explain how I do that, nice to see someone else who gets it! I do in for 4, out for 4. If I get tired, I take smaller steps, but keep the rhythm the same.

Im in the same position, realizing i need to drop a few pounds and get back in shape. I went for a jog last week and over did it, got really light headed, felt like crap all day. Didn't pace myself at all. I'll try that breathing thing next time i run

If you don't already, drink water all day, so when you go to run (or whatever you decide to do), you're fully hydrated. Also, get really warmed up before you start running. I'll either walk really fast, or do some pushups or something.

every journey starts with a first step eh?
I let my self gain about 12 pounds of fat and finally decided to start working out at the gym about 3 months ago, I've dropped most of it and gained a ton of muscle. If you have any extra money a gym membership is way worth it in my opinion..

It does indeed! Keep at it no matter what and you will be surprised by the progress you make. Good luck.

Just keep it going... consistency and motivation are the hardest in my book ever since I started working out/running last July. I find it's all to easy to justify and do the "tomorrow" excuse then tomorrow comes and there is another reason for "tomorrow". Just get it in your head that there are no excuses and just do it. I always find it amazing though when I do take a time off from running/weight lifting in terms of how I feel and energy level. That's when I know it's been too long and need to get back into it.
