Firearm transport on international flights
I've searched the forums and can't really find an answer to this one, not sure if it belongs here but if it doesn't the moderators can move it.
What are the laws if one wants to travel internationally and carry their firearm (say for personal protection in Mexico/South America or a safari in Africa)? I know that the UK won't allow it and some parts of Europe are a little persnickety, but what about Brazil? Mexico? There have been times when I wish I was armed in Cancun and Mexico City. What is the best way to find out about a country's gun laws? I've found that consulates are not the best about answering questions. Also, what if you're travelling to a country that would be perfectly OK with your carry but you have a layover (either a plane change or even an airline change) in Heathrow? How does this work...

Dont bother bringing it to Australia unless you are shooting in a competition. You are not allowed to carry pistols for protection.
mulder Oh and it has to be an international comp. You just can lob here with your gear and say Im heading of to the clubs to see if they have a comp on.
