Who here has been to Cabo?
We were thinking of first going to Mazatlan and then were told that Cabo San Lucas is the place to go if we want to head down that way.
Did you like it? A few more questions-- 1.Great Hotel to stay. 2.Do we need a Car? 3.What do we do for entertainment, besides party?

Cabo is a party town, no doubt. I'm not a huge party-er, so not a big draw for me. The two big party places are "El Squid Roe" and "Cabo Wabo". El Squid is very similar to a Carlos and Charlies or Senior Frogs. Cabo Wabo belongs to Sammy Hagar, I believe. I've been to C.W. once, had some fun. The house band was pretty damn good actually. There are several other bars as well, of course.
The main thing other than partying in Cabo is fishing. I'm not a fisherman so also not of big interest to me. I think there is some decent golfing too. As for hotels, there are a bunch of big beautiful (and freaking expensive) resorts. All in all, it is not the cheap, quaint little Mexican town it used to be.

I have been to Cabo, and not Maxitlan. I say try to stay in and all inclusive hotel, you can usually be in a really nice hotel, and end up saving so much on drinks and food. It is usually worth it.

I was in Cabo last year. First you don't need a car. And yes its all about the partying down there. And to be totally honest you can't really swim in the water cause of the undertow and when you step outside of Cabo itself its nothing but desert. If you stay in an all iclusive you could pretty much just chill there and relax if thats what your looking for.

Never been to Cabo but I've been to Puerto Vallarta and Cancun. Those two places have the all inclusives too but they also have great shopping, golf, fishing, boating, scuba/snorkeling and the party scene rocks too. If you could specify what you are into I could probably help a little more. Oh and if you like sight seeing and hiking then Cancun has the Mayan ruins. While I was in Puerto Vallarta I did alot of horseback riding in the jungle and along the beaches (es muy divertido!)

Also, I like ATV's and Dune Buggies or Jeeps. Boats are cool too if it is either Whale watching or even a Booze/Dinner Cruise.

Too bad we didn't get Baja California when we negotiated the Gadsden Purchase.
It would've made a nice South California. Imagine I5 going all the way to Cabo.

Been to Cabo, Mazaltlan, Porto and others on cruises. Cabo is fun, but Mataltlan wasn't worth getting off the ship. I really liked the small town of Xtapa & Zijuantineo. Very quaint and home town friendly atmosphere. Enjoy
