Ufc 83

So,

Did anyone else watch the UFC 83 PPV on Saturday?

My impressions:

- GSP looked brilliant.
- Franklin looked good, not great.
- Bisbing looked better at 185, but I want to see him against a good middleweight before I jump on his band wagon.
- Starnes should be banned from every MMA organization for the rest of his life.
- Quarry salvaged that debacle with his antics which made the last 1:30 or so of the fight a little amusing to watch. Loved the Rocky IV speech.
- I can't stand Kenny Florian as a fighter (he's a cheatin' buster) and as an announcer I was okay with him until he started spouting his man-love for Serra. There are few things that bug me more than that level of unabashed bias from an announcer.

Overall, it was an okay card. I loved seeing Franklin and GSP win, but overall, the card was about a B- for me.

Unfortunately, I didn't get to watch that one but I was happy with the results from the GSP vs. Serra fight. The other fights didn't get me too excited but I was happy to see GSP win. Serra is alright, but once he got the belt he seemed to get really arrogant. That's when I start rooting for the opponent.

Franklins father died within the last month or so....i think that still has him somber...but he still won.

GSP is not human....Matt Serra has little man complex.

Michael Bisping is one of my favorite fighters, not because his raw talent but because his English holligan ways

I would agree, overall about a B.....

I think that Serra should move back down to lightweight. As a welterweight he just doesn't cut it. He caught GSP in their first fight, but on a good day, the sun can shine even on a dog's a$$.

That GSP took him to the ground where Serra is supposed to dominate, and then devastate him was simply sick. I think that Serra, like Florian, forgot that he displayed superior wrestling/grappling/ground/submission skills against BJ Penn and Matt Hughes, one a celebrated BJJ guy and one a celebrated wrestler. He also dominated Trigg on the ground and Trigg is another with a solid wrestling pedigree.

That Florian implied that GSP took Serra to the ground because he was scared of Serra's stand-up is evidence of Florian's man-love for Serra and his bias as an announcer. Maybe GSP took Serra to the ground because he wanted to beat Serra at his own game. Maybe he took Serra to the ground because he knew that he wanted to screw up Serra's gameplan. I doubt he was "scared" of Serra's stand-up. I will give Serra credit for having a much improved striking game, though.

Forrest Griffon and Quinton "Rampage" Jackson. That is going to be a great fight to see! They're both extremely talented and Forrest can fight forever!

Forrest Griffen = 'goofy looking gremlin guy'

Quinton Jackson = 'only guy who has ever knocked Chuck Liddell out'

I think that this'll be a good fight, but I don't see Forrest lasting past the second round.

It was PPV so I didn't watch it. I have loved UFC for a long time. I have watched all of the "house" shows for the fighters.

I am glad to see GSP win. I absolutely hate arrogant. Serra was arrogant long before he got the belt.

Anyway, Pugs, thanks for ruining the fight for me. I usually watch it as a re-run on Spike.

Heh,

Maybe I should have mentioned a spoiler warning in the thread title.
