It's not the first time something like this has happened. Bear Grills and crew got caught flying out to hotels during filming then flying back into the "camp" in the morning.

I think the thread title is misleading but it grabbed my attention so it worked...lol

I dont think its any less deadly, those guys honestly go through alot. I used to hunt with a guy that fished in the bearing sea for one season. He said the money was fabulous but he said the boat cam close to sinking too many times for him and the weather scared him to death.

+1 Ichy
The Wizard got hit by a rogue wave and they had no footage of that as it was unexpected and unique. So they tried to approximate it with other footage. I have no problem with that. It is faithful to what actually happened.

It seems like they're trying to do the best they can. They aren't always going to have a chase boat there. I personally despise "reality TV," but I find myself horribly addicted to the show in question, possible because it is the closest to "reality" (and don't ask me to define that, I can't) that any of them can get.

If they found out the whole thing is filmed on a special effects stage they would have a story. Otherwise not that big a deal in the overall scope of the show.

The story says so.

"The Wizard was struck by a big wave, and that wave caused the leak you see in the show," Ford said. "The thing we didn't have on camera was the actual wave that struck the Wizard. That was shot at a separate time on the same journey and was an insert edit from the show. We did that for story continuity because we didn't have a boat-to-boat shot."
