I feel comfortable saying that will never happen. Not in Moto GP, and certainly not with their first entry into it.

As far as "BMW guys" buying it, there's no doubt about that either. For the brand loyalty folks out there, they can finally own a true sport-bike from Beemer if that's what they really want to spend their 20k on.

i meant top of consumer market ... or perceived. I am not partial to BMW bikes, i am a casual fan of choppers, but metro detroit roads are third world, we have snow october through april, and i need to be able to do physical labor atleast part time at work until my company grows more. I can't get a bike so i dont get to wrapped up in them, if i wreck a bike i am fawked. Times i do wish i was a desk jockie who lived in texas or florida, and i could commute on a bike. Still i have bad luck, my jeep has been rear ended a number of times, and hit thiree times parked, and thats not counting my other vehciles hit no fault of mine. I am sure if i road a bike, i would be run off the road in a few years.

I'll watch you guys ride em. and i am buying a lotus elise in about two years (a used one for about 39-40 something)

You couldn't PAY me to ride that around.

Kidding, it's one of the sickest bikes I've ever seen.

I like the bike but at that kind of money I'd be buying Italian. Aprilla, Ducati, etc. Yes Jap bikes are probably just as good or better and half the price but its something about owning a bike that you dont see everyday. My 2nd or 3rd bike will be a 748.

There's also something about owning an (exotic) V-twin. (I know, I know... the jap imports make them too...)

I own a Moto Guzzi. Its one of those that you dont see often. Parts and service centers are a pain in the butt to find. Everything costs more then other bikes (even Harleys). Yeah you get the cool factor, but its a royal pain trying to get stuff for them. My nearest authorized service tech for warranty work and such is 120 miles away
