My strategy is to get so drunk I forget I even have a gun, that way I don't touch it!

Totally kidding.

You are correct. CCW's are invalid here once you're at .04, but there's no law against carrying in on-sale liquor establishments. Although, around here, most of them have the ban signs for obvious reasons.

I just took the NV and UT CCW class last week. They said in both states it's ok to carry in a bar and (I believe) the legal limit is the same as when driving. They even told the story about some off-duty cops that were carrying while having a beer. Some guy came in and tried to rob the place and they stopped him. Funniest part was the reporter on the news was having a cow because these cops were drinking while armed.

As a rule, I never drink so much that I can't drive legally, unless I'm home. And even then, it's rare for me to have more than 3 drinks in a night. I'm usually the designated driver when the booze starts flowing. I just finished off a 6 pack that's been in my fridge for a couple months.

Alcohol effects typing much quicker than shooting.

I kid you.

Legal or not, alcohol + guns = seriously bad idea.

What's the deal with using a gun in self defense while in your house after you have been drinking? I know it's not CC but it makes me think... So if I drink, I waive my rights to defend my self?

Mixing the two is intolerable in my opinion as well.

In Louisiana, I think you can carry but your blood alcohol level has to be way lower than the driving limit. Basically, it probably only would allow one light beer with a heavy meal.

I do agree, they should not be mixed.

i THINK i read somewhere that you can be sloshed in your own home and still use a firearm in self defense, but it must meet the normal criteria. a good shoot is a good shoot, at home, you just can't carry.

i am waiting on my license and have been thinking about the zero alcohol while carrying. i believe one beer with a meal is perfectly ok. physiologically speaking, if you only have one beer with a big meal, you will feel no effects. unless you don't normally consume alcohol.

on the other hand, to avoid ANY possibility of barney fife taking my butt to jail i am leaning towards the absolutely positutely no booze. alcohol and guns, alcohol and driving, alcohol and boats are evil when mixed, so i will probably be drinking a lot less(not that my twelve pack a month is a bad habit).
