Just a few thoughts...
I haven't posted too much, but I have lurked for quite a while and I've come to this conclusion:
The gun crowd, who typically is very frustrated by the lack of understanding and freedom to live how they choose, sure is quick to pound away at one of it's own. It pains me to read comment after comment knocking down a fellow gun enthusiast because of an idea he has. Many may not think it is practical, but so what. Many people outside of our gun culture don't think that shooting as a sport, owning more than one firearm, concealed carry, or home defense is practical; yet we cry out over the injustice of not being allowed to live as free men. Too often I have witnessed a fellow enthusiast battered by the same narrow minded, judgementalism that is exhibited by those who would strip me of my right to live free. Why is that? Let me clarify that I am not refering to someone who is obviously trolling or has absolutely no idea what they are talking about. I am refering to an honest to God fellow enthusiast. I appreciate this forum for I've learned quite a lot about XD's, which led to me finally purchasing one over other polymer options, but I have also learned another valuable lesson: how not to treat a fellow enthusiast. To those who have been and continue to be enouraging and supportive, thank you. You are a shining example to all. Last edited by MarKing; 04-11-2008 at 02:39 PM. Reason: Spelling |

I can only assume you are talking about the political forum. If so, that's to be expected.
If you are talking about anywhere else then I'd have to agree with you.

Sadly, my thoughts have nothing to do with the political forum. I am refering to run of the mill gun conversation.

Well, this forum has exploded over the last two years or so that I've been here...I guess we're bound to get riffraff.

But I also believe bad or dangerous behavior demonstrated or planned by one gun owner can reflect poorly on all of us. I also have to believe anyone that throws out an unusual idea or product is looking for feedback to justify or modify their own thinking. Drop something into cyberspace and you'll get comments, that's a given. If most are negative, you may want to consider rethinking your position or plan. Our collective advice may well be worth what you pay for it. On the other hand, there are some pretty experienced people here who know what they are talking about.

Acceptance is a double edged knife. Too much acceptance brings complacency, not enough breeds contempt.
The narrow minded here are often set in their wisdom, tradition and what they believe is honorable. They try to bring that experience to others though the communication of such is not the most refined.
