DVD from Frontsight
If this has already been talked about then sorry, I've been off for awhile now.
The other day I got a DVD from Frontsight entitled, Front Sight Story: Chapter One, Your Legacy. It was actually very Good and their facility is like nothing I've ever seen before. Their mission is to take an aggressive approach to restore (not defend) the 2A, whilst training people to high levels of firearm proficiency. They have lifetime memberships where you can train on a multitude of weapons for the rest of your life. And for the cost, it's actually a significant savings compared to other tactical training facilities ( including the cost of their own individual courses). If you have not seen it I would definitely request a free DVD from them. 15 Special Gun Training Reports Anyone savvy to this? I am apt to go check them out.

I still dont know if I want to attend them or to pay the extra bucks and attend Gunsite. Gunsite from what I hear is a better training facility with better cirriculm, but again, this is all hearsay.
I have been tempted to purchase one of the ebay certificates for frontsite for $100. That would make it worth it for me to attend, and if it is horrible, leave and go to vegas... No biggie. Apparently though, they give you a 3 hour sales pitch. Personally, I would leave my checkbook at the hotel while I go to the class. If I ended up being totally blown away by the training, then I would consider purchasing a membership. |

A sales pitch is what you make of it. You don't have to feel pressured if you don't want to.
Anyway, I have a cert for the 4 day handgun. Still trying to decide on a date though. re: the DVD. It is pretty good in my opinion. He sure seems passionate about his craft. I enjoyed it. My suggestion: give it some time to sink in. I was pretty worked up after watching it myself. But I know I am like that.

Yeah, apparently if buy a membership outright you get these certificates that you can sale or give away for a 4 day course on handgun, tactical shotgun and practical rifle. You can get them on Ebay for $100. I'll buy a couple for the wife and I and see what it's all about(or maybe I'll just get her a two day and she can visit her girlfriend in Vegas while I have more fun).
You're right about the DVD though he hooked me with two things I want. Expanding the influence of the pro-2A community and lifetime multi-firearm training. I was previously familiar with Gunsite and I knew that they where good. I have never heard of Frontsight before but the sheer size and scale of this place was just crazy. I guess a trip out there is the only way to know for sure if they're worth it. Try not to get drunk on patriotism.

Are these certificates for real or are they a scam? Sounds to good to be true. If the course is so expensive how can Fontsight afford to honor these? |

You should copy the link and send it to Frontsite's e-mail to verify it. I saw one guy on ebay that had a very high rating selling them.
One of their goals right now is marketing and referrals. They give them away with a life membership paid in full.

I got one of their dvd's in the mail too it sounds really good to me too. What they are doing is anytime anyone spends the money to get a membership they give that person two? free certificates for the handgun, shotgun, and another course that person can either give them away to friend, family, and even sometimes to law enforcement officers. they can also sell them if they want too. the idea is the certificates that are given away or sold will bring in people who will be impressed with their course and in turn buy a membership then they will recieve the tickets and pass them on one way or the other so on and so forth. thats how they can sell them so cheap and from what i've seen i'm kinda hoping it works. The NRA is great but I do agree they take too long to do most things,I also agree with them in the aspect that we will never gain any ground with the 2nd amendment staying on the defense. I hope this guy is for real,he seems genuine enough. I know if I lived closer to the facility I would attend in a heartbeat. I'd recomend you guys at least get the free dvd and see what you think about it.

From what I read on the Front Sight website is that they have a larger membership then the NRA now.

I attended the free machine gun class a few years ago at Frontsight. They offered it to get you to come look at there facility and try to sell you a "membership". The training was good (plus shooting Uzis for free was nice), but the sales pitch was over two hours. Frontsight ended up having a couple of lawsuits and investigations done regarding the membership/land sales (if you Google it you will find more info). It's about 45 minutes outside of LasVegas, the facility was fairly primative with porta potties at the time I was there.
Gunsite is 30 miles from me. I took my original CCW class there. First class training and facilities. Very structured classes (they like Weaver stance and 1911s), but teachers were very good and answered everyone's questions. I haven't taken classes from Gabe Suarez, but he is highly recomended by people I have spoke with. He is based out of Prescott, but teaches all over the world. His force on force gunfighting class is as close to the real thing as you can safely get using metal airsoft pistols and realistic settings. He is also a fan of the AK47 and russian fighting techniques, those classes are supposed to be good, too. If you Google Gabe Suarez or Warrior Talk you will find info on classes and a very good forum. Gabe taught at both Frontsight and Gunsite, prior to starting his own training school. |
