Florida police shoot man 68 times
This piece of trash shot a police officer 8 Times, killed a k-9 and shot another officer once in the leg.
Please read the Sheriffs quote at the end of the first story Its a shame they didnt hit him with all 110 bullets...lol Newsvine - Man brutally shot 68 times by police Man brutally shot 68 times by police; some close range The family of a man who killed a Polk County sheriff's deputy and was subsequently riddled with 68 bullets called on Florida Gov. Jeb Bush Thursday to order an independent investigation of the shooting. Nine SWAT officers fired a total of 110 bullets at 27-year-old Angilo Freeland last week after he fatally shot a Polk County deputy and his dog and wounded another fleeing from a traffic stop. "This is not about a lawsuit. Nobody is suing anybody," the family's attorney, Grady Irvin, said at a Thursday afternoon new conference. "What this is all about is this death is uncommon in the means and manner by which Mr. Freeland died -- 68 bullet holes. His family just wants to put this issue to rest and they want a search for the truth, that's all." An Orlando-based civil rights group also on Thursday called on U.S. Attorney Alberto Gonzales to look into the circumstances surrounding Freeland's death. Irvin said race isn't an issue in the shooting. But he was concerned by Polk County Sheriff's Grady Judd's tough talk to reporters before and after Freeland's death. "I suspect the only reason 110 rounds was all that was fired was that's all the ammunition they had,".... Here is the story reported from another source... By PEGGY KEHOE, Managing Editor Less than 24 hours after a deputy and his K-9 partner were killed and another deputy wounded, the suspected shooter was himself dead, shot by SWAT officers searching for him in thick woods. Walking shoulder to shoulder through vines and underbrush, the officers were practically on top of Angilo Freeland before they spotted him under a large, fallen oak tree covered with vines, Polk Sheriff Grady Judd said. They ordered him to show his hands; he raised one and officers saw a handgun. “It's the last thing he ever did,” Judd said in a news conference Friday morning. “God will be the judge and the jury this time,” Judd said. The suspect “chose his end.” Officers knew the suspect's “proclivity for violence” and his “proclivity to create mayhem and create death.” Later, Judd said he trusted “God to be the judge and jury better than anyone on the face of the earth.” SWAT team members “clearly saw a firearm in the suspect's hand when they located him hiding on Friday morning, and he did raise the weapon in their direction,” Polk County Sheriff's Office spokesman Carrie Rodgers said. “Collectively they fired 110 rounds at the suspect, several of the rounds lodging in the oak tree under which he was hiding. The suspect was hit by 68 rounds.” The suspect, identified as Angilo Freeland, 27, had dug out under a large, fallen oak tree, and was hiding there when officers stumbled upon him Friday morning about 9:30. “We probably had dozens of deputies walk over that area” during the massive manhunt, Judd said, and it was only “by the grace of god that other deputies weren't shot.” The 20-hour manhunt, involving 1,000 police officers from throughout Central Florida, began Thursday after Deputy Matt Williams and his K-9 partner Diogi were killed and Deputy Douglas Speirs was wounded following a traffic stop on Wabash Avenue in Lakeland. Speirs stopped Freeland for speeding at 11:45 a.m., and Freeland gave a false identification to the officer. Freeland ran into the woods, and the deputies followed, not knowing the suspect was armed, Judd said. Speirs was on top of a drainage ditch, and could see Williams and Diogi working the brush, Judd said. Williams and Diogi were shot first, then Speirs. Judd said it appeared that Williams and Diogi were ambushed in the thick brush. Williams was shot eight times: once each in his right wrist, left bicep, left rear thigh, right leg, right buttock, and right upper arm; a close range shot behind his right ear, and a contact wound, where the muzzle was touching his skin, near his right temple. Deputy Williams was not wearing a vest, but it wouldn't have changed the outcome, based on the wounds he received, specifically in the legs, spine, and head, Rodgers said. K-9 Diogi, a German shepherd, was shot once in the chest, according to an autopsy report. Deputy Sheriff Doug Speirs was fired at several times by the suspect, Rodgers said, and was shot once in the leg. Two Lakeland police officers who went to a nearby house were fired at several times by the suspect, who was in the back yard. The police, who were not hit, fired back, with the residents nearby. Freeland, a Jamaican man, had previously been arrested in Polk County in 1999 by the Florida Highway Patrol for no valid driver's license, reckless driving, aggravated fleeing to elude, resisting arrest without violence, and carrying a concealed weapon. His autopsy showed that he died from multiple gunshot wounds. The fingerprints that were taken match the fingerprints found in the rental car he was driving, Rodgers said, and both of those sets of fingerprints match the fingerprints of Angilo Freeland. Freeland also was known as Eswardo Ramclaim and Alex or Andrew Cloxton, according to PCSO. Freeland had two weapons on him, including Williams' own handgun. In the rental car, investigators found a book with associates involved in the drug trade, Judd said Friday, and say Freeland had drug connections in Orlando, Miami and Lakeland. No drugs were found in the car. During a press conference on Friday, friends said how much they would miss Williams. Sgt. Jim Bryan, Williams' supervisor, said, “I was also his friend.” Williams, a K-9 handler for nine years, was “probably one of the best K-9 handlers in the state of Florida.” He also was a trainer, and the department will miss his leadership in training, Bryan said. “I'm going to miss him not only because I was his supervisor, but he was my friend.” Colleagues also will miss Diogi, the German shepherd partner. “It's difficult. You can't explain to somebody who hasn't been there, the bond you have with the dog. You literally spend more time with the dog than with members of your own family.” Deputy Mike Evans, speaking on behalf of the Williams family, his wife Nancy and three children, said that the family wanted “to thank everyone for what they are doing. “Matt was a very close friend of mine,” and was one of the greatest K-9 handlers and deputy sheriffs that has ever been here. We lost a wonderful father, wonderful husband, wonderful son, and we've all lost a wonderful friend.” He wants Williams remembered as a hero: “He lived as a hero, he died as a hero; his legacy to his friends and everyone in Polk County is a legacy that will live on.”

In case anyone was wondering. This IS a real story. Snopes has a narrative about what happened. You would have to assume that the officers were rightfully angery, but on top of that, the suspect had obviously made up his mind that he was not going to be caught. That fact alone would warrent extreme methods.

Nine swat officers fired 110 shots. That is only 12.2 shots per officer. You figer if they had MP5's you could shoot that many rounds in a second.

Too bad they can't kill this oxygen depleting piece of debris more.
Glad he won't be stealing any more of our precious oxygen.

I imagine there was intent to make sure they were hitting him, given he was dug in..
