Yes, but would it be as ridiculous as Billy with the underbarrel-mounted 870 shotgun in the movie Predator?

You can actually do this. They use it for less than lethal ammo and breaching doors and stuff like that.

My gunsmith has the 1911

He built a competition gun for someone that had the forward 1/3 of the slide as part of the frame so the guy could wrap his finger over it for shooting around obstacles. Take that idea and attach it to the pic rail and you would be in business.

On the AR platform instead of like a regular vertical grip, or a vertical grip/flashlight deal...a fully functional 1911 as the grip with a tac light on it!!!! i dont care how many bad scenarios you can come up with i want one!
I love this idea, I have seen them with a 12 ga under slung but never with a pistol. As I see it, all you would need to do is make an upside down "L" shaped rig to attach to the left side of the frame of the 1911. Interesting Idea,,,,,maybe not PRACTICAL ( inside joke) but a cool idea. You could use crimson trace grips to aim it.
