Signed up for an instructional class

WOOT!! The were booked up through June, but they just opened up a class for next week! Can't wait!
I'm going to apply for my GFL this monday too. Unfortunately it looks like it takes up to 60 days to get it

The class covers:
- Safe firearm handling
- Georgia law and codes
- Types of firearms (primarily handguns) their parts and operation
- Ammunition, loading and unloading
- Shooting fundamentals to include how to grip the handgun, sighting, and firing
- Generally recognized range instructions and commands
- Other range safety
- Corrective shooting practices
- Overview of gun cleaning
- Suggestions on how to select the handgun right for you
- Range time

Our basic gun safety and familiarization class is taught by our NRA Certified Instructors and primarily covers handguns. The class includes three hours of classroom instruction followed immediately by one hour of hands-on experience on the range using our guns.

Be aware that 60 days is optimistic at best. That is the law, I know, but I just went in last week to renew mine and they mentioned that it's realistically and unofficially 90 days in Cobb county. I'm in Acworth too, BTW. Judge Dodd here in Cobb is not known for his speed on this issue. They have also had a real flood of people applying for GFLs in the last couple of months.

If you haven't already looked at it, Welcome to GeorgiaPacking.org has a lot of GFL info. On the upside the app process is a simple one page deal that doesn't take too long and the printing is done in the basement of the same building electronically. You shouldn't be in there more than 30 minutes unless there's a line.

Thanks for the info. I've been lurking on georgiapacking.org for a while. Lots of good info on there too. Sucks that it can be 90 days!!
