At least she was cute.

Here in Ohio I know a few guys who periodically open carry. It's legal. This doesn't prevent them from getting harassed by the cops almost every time they do it. Nothing says Constitutional right like being made to kneel, hands behind your head with fingers interlaced, so some ignorant cop can "feel safe" from law abiding citizens.

Here in Colorado, state law has always allowed for open carry, and about 10 years ago became a "shall issue" concealed carry state. The state also passed preemption laws which prevented cities controlled by liberals from passing gun laws that went against state law. However, that didn't prevent cities like Denver from trying to preempt the state law with it's own gun laws, anyway.

Denver tried to ban CCW and OC within it's city limits. They were sued by the state and it went to the state supreme court, which ruled that Denver could ban open carry, but not concealed carry. So now, in Colorado, you can carry concealed anywhere (excepts schools, etc.), but cannot open carry in cities that have laws against it.

Also, one of the places that you cannot carry a gun in any way (OC, or CCW), in Colorado, is in a bar. You can also be charged with breaking the law if you are found to have a gun in your possession while intoxicated. Truthfully, I don't have anything against that. Then again, I'm a teetotaler and never go to bars.

I open carry in PA at times and get strange looks because I am of the ripe old age of 25. Now when I open carry and have my 2 year old son in tote with me no one gives me a second look. Kinda weird.

Have you ever seen or do you have any proof of this every happening?

People like to say it happens all the time but in more than two years of OCing I have yet to have a police officer even ask me what kind of gun it was.

I'm not sure what proof you want. The guy who does it most often is a member of Ohioans for Concealed Carry and was deeply involved in getting our CC law passed. He organized some of the "open carry walks" (where a bunch of pro CC guys would walk the streets of Cincy open carrying to draw attention to the fact that a: it's legal to do so and b: it was absurd that we couldn't carry concealed.).

I have no reason to beleive he's lying. I have encountered enough Cincinnati police officers to assume a certain measure of truth in his statements. I have been told very directly by a CPD officer that nobody should be allowed to have or carry guns. She told me that she didn't even like carrying one for work. My first though was maybe that she should have chosen a different career.

No kidding.

No big deal it's just I see that line get thrown around A LOT. Nearly at every OC thread anywhere. No matter how hard I try I can only find a few instances where people have been harassed by the Police. It's just extremely rare, but if you were to read a lot of OC posts you would think it happens everyday to everyone that OCs.
