Maybe hold off on that until AFTER you get your degree?

I'm a grad student at Syracuse University and during my undergrad years they decided to make our campus security peace officers so they could carry.

I still remember all the anti-gun articles in the student papers. Surprisingly all the gloom and doom predicted didn't happen. I also don't see nearly as many reports of campus muggings in the the police blotter.

I'm pretty sure I wont be, CSU policy allows it, as well as state law. I carry to class everyday without incident. The funny thing is after there was an article in the campus paper they interviewed some people who were spouting the typical anti brain vomit, about how it freaks them out that someone with a gun might be sitting next to them in class etc, I just laughed to myself knowing I may sit next to these fools and they would have no clue.

Even if the dude in class is like uhhh law abiding and all that, well he might like go nutty one day and start shooting everyone like huh huh huh. Gunz r like scary!"

"It [concealed carry on campus] certainly has not produced the opposite effect as opponents believe it will. If it truly makes us safer or not, we don't know," he admitted. However, Ryan said that there is sufficient evidence to believe that allowing concealed weapons on campuses could "evens the odds" of survival in a tragic event, such as the shootings that took place at Virginia Polytechnic Institute or Northern Illinois University.
the most pertinent paragraph in that report, IMO.

I agree the odds are more even, but the permit holder would have to be in the room that was attacked, which seems like a small chance considering the large number of classrooms on campus, probably more rooms than armed permit holders.

Some of the people's responses in the paper reminded me of the knife in class thread the other day. Brush-Wolf-Lady, I think you are right about these people, its like a movie for them. If they only knew how many guns they came into close proximity too daily without realizing I imagine they would panic.

I just cant understand people's fear, and thinking guns kill people by themselves or turn regular people into psycho killers is just silly. If there was truth to those beliefs mine are all defective.

Seems to me that given some number of permit holders, the chance that a permit holder is in any particular classroom is directly proportional to the number of students in the classroom... not the number of rooms.
