Tell your SHTF / Almost-SHTF Story

I am interested in hearing your SHTF stories. Even if you have an Almost-SHTF story. I've read a lot here lately about why we own guns, and opinions about what we would do in hypothetical situations.

I want to compare the theories of what we would do vs. what we really think and actually do when the S does HTF. Even if it is an Almost-SHTF situation, what kept your weapon holstered?

Let's test theory against reality. Please - no pranks or back-and-forth arguments - my eyes tire easily. I'm looking for constructive input so that we can all become better, safer and more responsible XD owners.

YES! Do a search for Tactical Tommy!

I posted that story, I was very proud :0

I had one 2 nights ago, my car being a little high profile, I have the 'viper' alarm system. So if it ever goes off, the little remote that is on the keychain will also beep like mad. So, two nights ago, I hear the remote going off, then in the distance ( I am about 50 yards from my parking lot) I hear my car going off. I peer out the window, and see no one. I REALLY, REALLY wanted to go outside, it was about 4am and dark as all hell. I always have my USP Tactical next to me when I am sleep, and I just wanted to go out there and show who ever it was screwing with my car that I can hear them and i WILL respond.

I thought to myself, what if I go out there? I will go armed for sure, what if there are a group of guys? 4 on 1? Even with a gun the odds are stacked against me if they were to REALLY come after me. How would that look in court? A upper-middle class, white, catholic 22 year old soon to be college graduate, military trained went out side with an evil H&K .45AutomaticColtPistol with a threaded barrel to confront some 'kids' screwing with his car. What if I did have to defend myself if the situation escalated? no matter what, I believe that I would be looked at as the aggressor because i went outside with the gun, even if I did follow all the CCW laws.

I checked later that morning, nothing was done to the car so I did not call the police.

That was my weak SHTF story..sorry.

SHTF story huh?.... Well back in 1999 I was picking up my kids from my ex wife and was jumped by 6 guysfr no reason that were maybe 16-18 years old (in a decent neighborhood). I was hit from behind and knocked to the ground, kicked in the back of the head and caught alot of punches. I covered up and thught, "Im alone, If I dont do something, Im a dead man." I raised up and landed probably the hardest punch of my life into the first crotch I saw and then stood up and threw the next punch square in another guys face and it exploded in blood. After that punch, I spun to check my back and they all backed off. Seems they didnt want to fight after they realized I wasnt going to be a victim. I slowly retreated to my car where my kids had been sitting and watching and then drove straight to the poilice station. I had not a single mark on me and the cops said I was lucky they didnt shoot or stab me. The were never able to identify the perps and no charges were filed. I have carried a gun since, first illegaly and then legaly when Ohio passed their CCW law.
